i had 1.1.5 1st gen firmware version i downloaded 2.2 firmware and restored it 2.2 and then jailbreaked it easily Use my link provided in previous post to get 2.2 ipod touch 1st Gen firmware

Cheers the 2g 2.2 firmware worked great. tried 3 times to dl the update through itunes and it failed... my internet or apple servers i dunno but a downloading the update from here worked great. Just a quick question Can you use "iPod1,1_2.2_5G77_Restore.ipsw" on a 1g ipod touch even if you didn't purchase the firmware for the previous ipod touch update?

no. You can't use iTunes for this. Jut download the software (it's free), install version 1.1,4, and follow the steps I gave you.

I don't know if the apps are included in these releases, but it doesn't matter. Just download the firmware, jailbreak with Ziphone.org, and add "repo.applerepo.com" to the sources list. You can find lots of YouTube videos explaining how to do this. 2.0 is overrated and buggy, I wouldn't reccomend it after using it since July 12.
