Apple has demanded its iPhone 4G prototype be returned confirming its authenticity beyond doubt.
Here is the letter sent to Gizmodo...

Happy to have you pick this thing up. Was burning a hole in our pockets. Just so you know, we didn't know this was stolen [as they might have claimed. meaning, real and truly from Apple. It was found, and to be of unproven origin] when we bought it. Now that we definitely know it's not some knockoff, and it really is Apple's, I'm happy to see it returned to its rightful owner.
P.S. I hope you take it easy on the kid who lost it. I don't think he loves anything more than Apple. -----
The story of the lost (?) IPhone HD/4G prototype seems to fade slowly, but as time passes and the landscape clean of the dust of panic, the questions grow:
It is possible to Gizmodo, one of the biggest tech blogs on the Internet, had for 1 full week the highly anticipated iPhone HD/4G and not investigate the major elements of the device, namely the hardware?
Across the exclusive publication / hands on Gizmodo had the only 1 photo from inside the device and does not pose a significant feature.
Why no reference to the processor, memory and other features and significance throughout the review is spent on reports which is obvious from the pictures alone?
On the day of presentation of the iPad, then, the discussions around the A4 (the 1st processor used in Apple iPad)... The Gizmodo has in its hands the next iPhone, and the opportunity to respond to hot questions, but... nothing!
Why is there no photo showing the increased display resolution when connecting the device to the computer and display the "Connect to iTunes";
The questions are even more ...
Some people with great imagination could support the following scenario:
* The Apple decides to leak (always controlled) some information about the iPhone 4G/HD under the pressure of competition (see Android, Windows mobile 7).
* It was decided that the best way of doing it was through the 2 biggest tech blog on the Internet (see Gizmodo, Engadget).
* One of the two will have the exclusive while the other will start the rumor.
* Organized the necessary meeting with 2 authors in an area outside of their offices (Note the photos of review ... seem to have been taken from a hotel room).
* Starts with Engadget leaked photos.
* The Gizmodo continues with unique (test) review. Apple has given clear instructions on what can be said at the review and what is prohibited to publish.
* Apple has sent a formal letter from the legal department and the device returns to it.
* mobile users defer purchases until June 22 where they will wait for the new iPhone HD/4G.
* The iPhone HD/4G presents itself and has nothing to do with the pictures (on the outside at least )- on the inside we cant tell because we were never informed by Gizmodo and Engadget.
... Vices... are they not!
Wooooo, so then it's the real deal! The only thing I didn't like from the exterior were the volume buttons being separated and the new style of the switch for 'silent' mode. Everything else was sweet as! Can't wait 'till it's released :D I hope it doesn't change too much though. I just hope it won't be the same boring design they've kept for two iPhone models >.>
i like the design could be a lot more futuristic but i think now apple is gona try to change the style because every one saw the phone already so is not a mystery no more and apple love to have everyone wondering
what's wrong with the volume buttons being separated? i don't see the big deal. no functionality is lost, and in fact, i might guess that apple will have another use for those buttons now that they are no longer bound to each other.
