Adobe has announced its a 'Premiere' video editing app for iPhone, now available for pre-order from the App Store. The company says the app, which is free to download, combines a powerful suite of traditional editing tools with generative AI capabilities that operate on a paid credit system— without ads or watermarks. The app will officially be released on September 30.
The Premiere app packs in the tools you'd expect from a full editor, including a multi-track timeline with frame-accurate cuts, Lightroom color presets, and features like background removal and animated captions. Adobe is also bundling in a creative starter kit with more than 2,000 royalty-free music tracks, over 100 Adobe Fonts, and a library of images and effects to help kick off projects quickly.
A major highlight is the integration of Adobe's Firefly generative AI. With it, users can turn text prompts into video clips, images, or stickers, clean up voiceovers with the 'Enhance Speech' tool, and even generate sound effects using their own voice. This feature builds on Adobe's recent mobile AI push, following the launch of its dedicated Firefly AI app and its experimental 'Project Indigo' camera app.
Premiere for iPhone is free to download and use. The generative AI features are powered by Firefly and use credits, which can be purchased with a subscription or are included as part of existing Creative Cloud plans. Projects can also be synced with the desktop version of Premiere Pro for more advanced editing. Adobe stresses that it does not claim ownership of user content or use it to train its AI models.
An Android version is in development, but iPhone users can pre-order Premiere today ahead of its September 30 release.
