New Fire TV Stick 4K Drops to $29.99 (50% Off) [Deal]

The new Fire TV Stick 4K is down to $29.99 on Amazon, half its $59.99 launch price. That's about a tenth of the $299 Apple is charging for new Apple TV 4K, which is up for pre-order ahead of its November 13 release.

The stick replaces the Fire TV Stick 4K Select and 4K Plus. It has a quad-core 1.7GHz processor, 8GB of storage, Wi-Fi 6, and 4K output at up to 60fps with HDR10, HDR10+, and HLG. It's slimmer, with a USB-C port, and Direct Power lets it run from the TV's USB port with the included cable instead of a wall adapter. The redesigned Fire TV Remote adds TV power and volume controls, a navigation ring, and buttons for the Shortcut Panel and Live TV.

It runs Amazon's Linux-based Vega OS rather than the Android-based Fire OS, so Android apps can't be sideloaded, and it drops Dolby Vision and native Dolby Atmos, though Atmos passes through over HDMI. Netflix, Disney+, YouTube, Prime Video, HBO Max, and the Apple TV app are all available. The Fire TV Stick 4K Max, at $84.99, stays on Fire OS and supports Dolby Vision, HDR10+, Dolby Atmos, and Wi-Fi 6E.
