Apple Announces 14-Inch MacBook Pro With M6, Wi-Fi 7 Starting at $1,999
Apple has updated the 14-inch MacBook Pro with its new M6 chip, bringing a 12-core CPU and GPU, faster on-device AI processing, and Wi-Fi 7. The laptop starts at $1,999 in the U.S. and comes in space black and silver.

Pre-orders open tomorrow, October 28, in 35 countries and regions, including the U.S. Deliveries and availability at Apple Stores and authorized resellers begin Friday, November 6. Education pricing starts at $1,899.
M6 Performance and Memory
The CPU and GPU each gain two cores over M5. Apple claims up to 30 percent faster graphics and up to 25 percent faster on-device AI workloads, including LLM prompt processing, compared with the previous chip. Neural Accelerators are built into each GPU core, alongside a third-generation ray-tracing engine and Dynamic Caching.
A Dual 16-core Neural Engine delivers up to 1.9 times the performance of M5, according to Apple. Unified memory starts at 16GB and can be configured up to 32GB, with bandwidth reaching 170GB/s.
In specific application tests, Apple reports up to 13 times faster LLM time-to-first-token performance and 11.7 times faster Blender ray-traced rendering than the 13-inch M1 MacBook Pro. Those same tests are up to 1.3 times faster than on the 14-inch M5 model. Affinity image processing is up to 3.3 times faster than M1 and 1.2 times faster than M5, while Xcode project builds are up to 2.5 times and 1.3 times faster, respectively.
Display, Battery, and Connectivity
The Liquid Retina XDR display offers up to 1,600 nits of peak HDR brightness and a 1,000,000:1 contrast ratio, with optional nano-texture glass to reduce reflections. A 12MP Center Stage camera supports Desk View, backed by a three-microphone array and six-speaker sound system with Spatial Audio.
Wi-Fi 7 and Bluetooth 6 join three Thunderbolt 4 ports, HDMI, MagSafe 3, an SDXC card slot, and a headphone jack. The laptop supports up to two external displays.

Apple rates battery life at up to 24 hours, with actual runtime depending on use and configuration. Fast charging can bring the battery to 50 percent in 30 minutes with a compatible higher-wattage USB-C adapter, such as Apple's 96W adapter.
macOS 27 and Apple Intelligence
The new model runs macOS 27 Golden Gate. Siri AI can use personal context from messages, email, and photos, work across apps, and respond to onscreen content. It is integrated with Spotlight and systemwide context menus, with a keyboard shortcut for Visual Intelligence and writing assistance across apps.
Siri AI is a beta feature in macOS 27.2, supporting English, French, Japanese, Korean, Portuguese, and Spanish; it is not available to users under 13. Some cloud-based Apple Intelligence features have daily usage limits. Other macOS additions include Safari tab organization, website-change notifications, custom extensions created from a description, and Shortcuts automations built from natural-language instructions. A Settings slider adjusts the transparency of Liquid Glass.
The enclosure uses 100 percent recycled aluminum, and Apple reports 45 percent recycled content overall, including recycled cobalt in the battery and recycled tantalum in multiple capacitors. Manufacturing uses 60 percent renewable electricity across its supply chain.
Eligible U.S. customers can also lease the M6 model through Apple Upgrade from $38.99 per month for 36 months, excluding taxes and trade-in credit. That is a lease rather than an installment purchase.
