Adobe is bringing its Firefly generative AI tools to the iPhone and Android, launching a new mobile app that lets you create and edit images and video from anywhere. The company also announced it's expanding the Firefly ecosystem, adding new partner models and updating its AI-powered moodboarding tool, Firefly Boards.
The new Firefly app lets you generate images and video from text prompts, transform existing images into video, and use tools like Generative Fill and Generative Expand right on your phone. It integrates models from Adobe, OpenAI, Google, Ideogram, Luma AI, Pika, Runway, and Black Forest Labs. Content you create syncs with your Creative Cloud account, so you can start a project on the go and finish it in desktop apps like Photoshop or Premiere Pro. The release follows the launch of a dedicated Photoshop app for iPhone, further building out Adobe's mobile creative suite.
Firefly Boards, the company's collaborative moodboarding tool, is now available in public beta on the web and has been updated to include video. Creative teams can now remix video clips and generate new footage using models from Adobe, Google's Veo 3, Luma AI's Ray2, Pika 2.2, and OpenAI. They can also apply iterative edits using conversational prompts powered by models like Black Forest Labs' Flux.1 Kontext.
"Creators continue to impress us with the breadth and artistry of the images, videos, graphics and designs they're dreaming up in the Firefly app using models from both Adobe and our partners," said Ely Greenfield, Adobe's Senior Vice President and Chief Technology Officer. "Our goal with Firefly is to deliver creators the most comprehensive destination on web and mobile to access the best generative models from across the industry, in a single integrated experience from ideation to generation and editing."
Adobe emphasized its commitment to transparency, noting that all AI-generated content will include attached Content Credentials to identify which model was used. The Firefly app is available to download free from the App Store, but there's a $4.99/month fee for access to all features. For a limited time, Adobe is also offering 30% off a Creative Cloud subscription which also provides access to Firefly features.
