OpenAI Launches ChatGPT Health to All U.S. Users With Apple Health Integration

OpenAI is rolling out ChatGPT Health to all eligible U.S. users today, moving the feature out of a limited pilot and making it available across the Free, Go, Plus, and Pro tiers on iOS and the web.



Users can now securely connect Apple Health and supported medical records from providers including Epic, Oracle Health, and One Medical directly to ChatGPT, or upload records from other healthcare providers. After permission is granted, the assistant can use information such as lab results, medications, sleep patterns, and activity data to help compare results over time, prepare for doctor's appointments, and explore how daily habits relate to overall well-being. OpenAI says connected health information is never used to train its foundation models.



During the pilot, users had to begin conversations inside a dedicated Health section. Now, once permission has been granted, ChatGPT can use relevant health context in any conversation. For example, it can consider a dietary restriction when suggesting restaurants or a recent injury when recommending lower-impact activities. The change follows feedback showing that about 70 percent of health-related conversations took place outside the dedicated experience.



ChatGPT Health first launched as a pilot program in January. The feature is rolling out to logged-in U.S. users ages 18 and older across the Free, Go, Plus, and Pro plans, though it is not yet available in Codex.



The rollout follows OpenAI's release of its GPT-5.6 model family. The company says GPT-5.6 Sol delivers its strongest performance on complex health-related tasks, while every GPT-5.6 model outperforms GPT-5.5 on the company's HealthBench evaluation.


OpenAI emphasizes that ChatGPT is not a substitute for professional medical care and urges users to verify important information with a healthcare provider. Health conversations are encrypted in transit and at rest, with additional access controls and audit logging.


More than 300 million people now ask ChatGPT health-related questions each week, up from the roughly 230 million weekly queries the company reported when it introduced ChatGPT Health in January.
