Apple Unveils New Apple TV 4K With A19, Siri AI, and HomePod Surround Sound
Apple has unveiled a fourth-generation Apple TV 4K with an A19 chip, hands-free Siri microphones, and support for a four-speaker HomePod surround sound setup. The update also adds a redesigned Siri AI experience and a new Siri Remote with Precision Finding.

A19 Performance and Siri AI
The A19 delivers up to 50 percent faster CPU performance and up to twice the GPU performance of the previous generation, according to Apple. A dedicated AV1 decoder improves streaming efficiency and reduces bandwidth use.
Siri AI provides a full-screen interface for finding movies and shows, with poster artwork and follow-up suggestions pulled from the Apple TV app. During playback, answers appear in a smaller overlay, allowing viewers to ask about filming locations or whether a show is suitable for a child without leaving what they are watching.

Personal-context requests can draw on a paired Apple Intelligence-enabled device to find a show someone recommended. Siri AI is available in beta in tvOS 27.2 and requires the Home app's household owner to have an Apple Intelligence-enabled iPhone or iPad running the latest software, with Siri AI enabled in a supported language.
The beta also supports Apple TV 4K models from the second generation onward, so the software feature is not exclusive to the new hardware. Initial English-language availability covers the U.S., Australia, Canada, India, New Zealand, Singapore, South Africa, and the UK. Some server-based AI features have daily usage limits, with paid expanded access planned for the future.
On the new box, three far-field microphones allow hands-free voice control. Echo cancellation separates the user's voice from playback audio for 'Hey Siri' or 'Siri' requests. Microphone support varies by region and requires the primary tvOS language to be Mandarin Chinese, Dutch, English, Finnish, French, German, Hebrew, Norwegian, or Swedish.

Siri Remote and Surround Sound
The updated Siri Remote retains its existing design but adds Precision Finding and the ability to play a sound when misplaced. Precision Finding requires the fourth-generation remote and an iPhone Duo, iPhone Air, or iPhone 17 or later, excluding iPhone 17e, running the latest iOS; availability varies by region.

General Find My support is available on second-generation and later Siri Remotes, but playing a sound is exclusive to the newest model. The new remote works with Apple TV HD and Apple TV 4K and can also be purchased separately.
For home theater audio, the fourth-generation Apple TV 4K can connect to four HomePod mini 2 or second-generation HomePod speakers. The front pair must match and the rear pair must match, allowing, for example, two HomePods in front and two HomePod mini 2 speakers behind the viewer. The system detects speaker positions and calibrates timing and levels to the room, with the latest operating system software required.

Home Controls and Screen Savers
The new box also serves as a home hub, alongside products such as HomeView and HomePod. Wi-Fi and Thread support connect accessories, while Siri AI can control devices and switch scenes on or off. A compatible video doorbell can show notifications on the TV, letting viewers see and speak to a visitor or unlock the door.

HomeKit Secure Video adds AI-generated camera activity descriptions and summarized notifications alongside automations, guest mode, and local processing. Video descriptions require setup with an Apple Intelligence-enabled iPhone or iPad and an eligible iCloud+ subscription, with AI camera limits depending on the plan.
For personal photos, an iPhone or iPad can configure Memories & Slideshows or Portraits screen savers without exposing the entire iCloud photo library. A new shuffle option rotates between screen saver categories.

FaceTime calling continues through Continuity Camera on compatible iPhone and iPad devices, a feature also supported on second-generation and later Apple TV 4K models.

The A19's Secure Exclaves isolate microphone processing from tvOS and apps. Siri requests can run on the device or through Private Cloud Compute, where Apple says the data is neither stored nor accessible to the company. HomeKit Secure Video footage remains end-to-end encrypted.
Pricing and Availability
Apple TV 4K (4th generation) costs $299 in the U.S. Pre-orders open today, October 13, in the U.S. and 29 other countries and regions, with in-store availability beginning Friday, November 13. Eligible U.S. customers can also pay $49.83 per month for six months through Apple Card Monthly Installments, subject to credit approval.
