Apple has described iPhone Duo pre-order demand as "extraordinary" after delivery estimates for new orders slipped as far as late January 2027, according to Bloomberg.

Customers arriving at the online store on Friday, October 16, encountered estimates stretching into November almost immediately. Within minutes, those dates moved to December and then late January, with delays affecting both colors and every storage capacity from 256GB to 2TB.

"We are working hard to get this revolutionary new product into customers' hands as quickly as possible," Apple said. The company will continue accepting online orders.

The first deliveries are still scheduled for October 23. Apple also said its retail teams are preparing to welcome customers to try the phone, but did not confirm whether stores will have inventory for people who missed the initial pre-orders.

Apple's ordering page lists January 22 shipping for the 256GB star white model. A separate pickup notice asks customers to check back on October 24 for availability, rather than confirming stock for launch day.

Bloomberg Intelligence analysts Anurag Rana and Josh Christensen said sales could exceed their earlier fiscal 2027 forecast of 14 million units and $28 billion in revenue. Those figures are analyst estimates, not pre-order totals disclosed by Apple.

The launch was already expected to have limited initial inventory. Earlier reporting said shortages had threatened to push the debut into November before the company assembled enough stock to proceed. Its retail plans still included extra demo units at flagship stores.

The foldable went up for pre-order this morning at 5 a.m. PT / 8 a.m. ET. Prices start at $1,999 in the U.S. and reach $3,199 for 2TB, with star white and night sky finishes available across the range.

Customers can check configuration-specific delivery estimates through Apple's ordering page.
