Apple has hired longtime Meta legal executive Scott Tucker as its new litigation chief, according to Bloomberg. The appointment is part of a reorganization of the company's legal team under General Counsel Jennifer Newstead.

In the newly created role of vice president of global litigation and financial services, Tucker will oversee commercial and patent cases worldwide, as well as legal work for Apple's financial offerings. He previously held a senior legal role at Morgan Stanley.

Heather Grenier, currently vice president of commercial and competition litigation, will report to Tucker rather than directly to Newstead. She will remain on the general counsel's legal leadership team.

Longtime legal executive Kyle Andeer is also gaining oversight of international legal matters, online child safety, cybersecurity, and law enforcement functions, in addition to his regulatory and product-related work. Apple and Meta declined to comment on the changes.

The hire brings Tucker back together with his former boss at Meta. Newstead took over as Apple's general counsel in March after six years as Meta's chief legal officer. Before Meta, she held senior roles at the U.S. State Department, White House, and Justice Department.

Apple has combined its legal and government affairs organizations under Newstead following the departures of Kate Adams and Lisa Jackson. The company also hired former American Airlines executive Nate Gatten as vice president of government affairs, reporting to her. Tim Cook continues to work on government relations as executive chairman.

The legal team's workload includes the U.S. antitrust lawsuit, the long-running Epic Games dispute over App Store rules, and cases involving privacy and Siri delays. Apple is also pursuing a trade secrets case against OpenAI, which recently agreed not to use information Apple alleges was stolen while that lawsuit proceeds.
