Apple is taking American Red Cross donations that will go to help those affected by Superstorm Sandy.
iTunes will transfer 100% of your donation to the American Red Cross. Because iTunes is not sharing your personal information with the American Red Cross, the American Red Cross is unable to further acknowledge your donation. You will receive an email receipt from the iTunes Store which will serve as your only acknowledgement of your donation.
Whether Apple donates or not, this would still be a nice gesture. What makes this evidence of Apple's greed and evil is that they don't want you to use your store credit: "please donate, but not your money that we're holding for you: that can only go to Apple!". Disgusting.
Omg I'm sure apple has given money, and what money you donate 100% is going to the Red Cross so what's wrong with that. What you all seen to miss here is iTunes is used in many countries and every one that is putting apps music or what ever on computers iphone iPods see a donate button may donate so many more people round the world can donate and help. May be people will donate this way that would not donate. And it's all about helping so any way you give will help be it by iTunes or web site or just putting some cash in a bucket at your local store.
When i first saw the the post, i thought it would be 100% match donation by apple. What a rubbish, might as well donate directly to red cross if apple is not contributing??!
I for one would feel better about doing it through a website that already has my information on file. Easier/faster to donate and I don't have to worry about my info in yet another location online.
Ho ho ho :)
Do You know that apple make like 400-3000% profit of each thing that they sell???
Do You know that they give the authorized resellers 8-9% off. ? May be in some large resseler a little bit more.
