These are instructions are on how to unlock a 1.1.1 iPhone or an iPhone that has been upgraded to 1.1.2 firmware. These instructions do not work for a 1.1.2 iPhone new from the store.

If your firmware is 1.1.1 please use iTunes to update to latest firmware(1.1.2) before starting this tutorial! You need to do this otherwise the unlocker used in this tutorial won't work.

DOWNGRADE TO 1.1.1

For this you will need iBrickr 0.91, iTunes 7.5, and iPhone Firmware 1.1.1

- Update iTunes to get the latest version.
- Download iBrickr 0.91 from: here
- Download iPhone Firmware 1.1.1 from: here

Step One

Hey, Ali try running the appsnap while you're connected to iTunes. I have the same problem Nicole has, I keep getting "error package download failed". Then I downloaded anysim 1.2 from a different source. It said "anysim cannot unlock this phone. anysim will now quit". The first time I followed this tutorial everything went smoothly, I only got problems after I restored my firmware.

Jin, I had the same problem and what i did was repeating the anySim process this time with version 1.2 instead of 1.1 (after completing the whole guide and getting the incorrect Sim message) with the ATT card in. It workd for me, just run anySIM1.2 at the end with ATT card, shut down iPhone, insert your SIM and done. Hope it helps

Okidoke, fixed the keypad issue and also crashing on sms and phone features. What I did was install the iWorld app, and that did it. Maybe you should note that too in the tutorial. Also another tip: copy and paste the commands when using the terminal tool to avoid typos. Thanks again.

Just did the whole tutorial. My phone is of the first release (bought it June 29) and was activated with AT+T with update to 1.1.2. Seems to works now with Telcel Mexico. The only issue I have right now is that the keypad aborts at the first number entered. Still works with contacts. A couple of notes on the tutorial: Should be noted never to disconnect the iPhone from the usb. Also I needed to reinstall the OpenSSH after step 6 in the upgrade 1.1.2 process (maybe because I had updated the installler app). Thanks and great work!!!

Jerry, make sure you completed step 7 correctly and copied the file to the right location. Use the command 'ls' in Terminal to make sure the file is there. If the file is not present then the 'tar' command will definitely not work.
