Display Live Weather on Your iPhone's Lockscreen [Cydget]

Posted February 3, 2014 at 9:02pm by iClarified
A Pint of Milk has released 'iOS 7 LockScreen Weather', a Cydget theme that displays live weather on your iPhone's lock screen.

This Cydget Theme is primarily for the iPhone 5, iPhone 5c and iPhone 5s. However, it does work on other iDevices. Full support for these will be available shortly.

For now, you'll need to be able to access the file system of your iDevice using your preferred method. Once connected you'll need to navigate to the following folder: System -> Library -> LockCydgets -> iOS 7 LockScreen Weather.cydget -> script

Within this folder there is a file called 'config.js'. Open this file with you favourite text editor and follow the very simple instructions within. This is how you set your location to display the correct weather.

The cydget is available from the Cydia Store for $1.49. If you need help please contact themes@apintofmilk.com.

We are the developers of this tweak. It has very little impact on battery. It only requests a tiny text file to update the weather. There are no background processes running. The only reason you'll see a lot of battery drain is you'll keep turning your iPhone on to show your mates. Contact us via Cydia if you have any further questions.

I think I will wait til it's more polished. I travel a lot so it would be nice that it matches the weather app current location.

The fact that it doesn't auto detect your position, and you manually have to change a text file to set your location shows that it can't use location service at all.
