Legion Meter is a device that claims to safely accelerate your smartphone/tablet's charging speed by up to 92%. It also features a built-in multimeter for displaying voltage, current, power, and milliwatt hours on an integrated OLED display.

How It Works:
USB ports have 4 lines. Ground, 5V, D+, D-. The D+, D- or data lines are used in most mobile devices to determine what charge profile that it should use to charge itself. Legion Meter modifies the D+ and D- to signal your mobile device to charge at the fastest possible setting no matter what USB port you're connected to. Charge acceleration is made possible by the patent pending, dynamically switchable architecture.

The device also features a resettable milliwatt-hours counter that can be used to determine the remaining capacity of your battery.

Legion Meter has far surpassed its goal of $10,000 with over $230,000 in pledges on Kickstarter. There's only a few left at the $49 pledge level and then the price jumps to $69.

people are forgetting that using their ipad's charger will do the same thing..

A more deceptive Kickstarter would be difficult to imagine. Anyone who knows anything about electronics knows that the charged device (i.e. the iPad) cannot be charged any more quickly than the internal circuitry allows. Also the charging device (i.e. the power supply brick) should not be forced to (and in most cases cannot be forced to) in any way supply more amperage than it is designed to do. If you attempt to pull more amperage out of it than you risk overheats, shut-downs and possibly even fires (in the very worst case). The real solution is to obtain a device and a cord which allows the correct amperage to flow to your charging device - not to spend an extra fifty bucks to purchase a device that, at best, will tell you how many amps are being sent (who cares???) and at worst will cause your power supply to exceed its design specs. If your Windows computer is only charging your iPad at .5 mA instead of 2.1A then there is likely a good reason for that - i.e. - it's not designed to supply any more. If you "trick" it somehow into supplying more power than in some, perhaps many, cases you will be at risk of motherboard damage. Fifty bucks for this is a scam along the lines of the old "cell antenna booster" scam decals that you pasted onto the back of your phones.

That is why people are willing to pay for anything that sound good. Using a IPAD charger will fix this one issue and also if Apple start releasing USB 3.0 Cable for charging that would step it up also. Consider that the USB 2.0 Protocol is only allow 5mA while the USB 3.0 Protocol can go up to 9mA. I believe Apple will release the Iphone 6 using USB 3.0 as all the other vendor like Samsung, HTC and ETC are already using USB 3.0 ports.

Faster charge time would be less battery time. Or so I have found on the battery's I charge. Would get a full day out of a slow charge and half a day out of a fast charge. I should say these are not phone battery's tho

So with this, will my computer USB finally be able to charge my iPad? Or is that still not possible? They didn't answer that question.

I assume you are using a windows based computer since macs as far as i know can charge ipads. download asus ai charger and you should be able to charge your ipad ona windows computer.

Whatever's made for it works better like icloud. I tried to set it up on PC, omfg the last part made me give up (setup outlook to make it work), that's another reason why I'm with macs, just a thought.
