Apple has released Xcode 26.6 (17F113), expanding its built-in AI coding assistants with support for Google's Gemini.
The update makes Gemini available alongside Anthropic Claude Agent and OpenAI Codex. Developers can use Gemini to generate code, answer questions, and collaborate on complex programming tasks without leaving Xcode. Xcode 26.6 also adds support for the Agent Client Protocol (ACP), allowing additional AI coding assistants to integrate with the IDE through a standardized interface.
Xcode 26.6 includes Swift 6.3 and SDKs for iOS 26.5, iPadOS 26.5, tvOS 26.5, watchOS 26.5, visionOS 26.5, and macOS 26.5. Apple says the update also includes bug fixes and stability improvements.
Apple has been steadily expanding its AI developer tools. The company first introduced agentic coding in Xcode 26.3 with support for Anthropic Claude Agent and OpenAI Codex, then added Gemini to the Xcode 27 beta following its WWDC preview. Xcode 26.6 now brings Google's coding assistant to the stable version of Xcode.
Xcode 26.6 is available as a free download from the Mac App Store and the Apple Developer website.
