Google's Eric Schmidt: Tim Cook is Wrong, Google is More Secure Than Apple [Video]

Google Chairman Eric Schmidt says that Apple CEO Tim Cook's recent statements on privacy at Google are wrong and that Google's systems are far more secure than Apple's in an interview with CNN Money.

Google's Eric Schmidt and Jonathan Rosenberg tell Christine Romans why Google is the safest place on the web, and why they hired Sheryl Sandberg without having a job for her.

In regards to Cook's comments, Schmidt said, "Someone didn't brief him correctly on Google's policies. It's unfortunate for him. In the first place, in Google's case, we have always been the leader in security and encryption. Our systems are far more secure and encrypted than anyone including Apple. They're catching up, which is great. Aside from the fact that we show ads in Gmail which we've done for a decade and we use that information for nothing, all the things he implied we're doing, we don't do."

Google is great and we all use it every day, but when talking about security, Apple is very strong. Android has historically dealt with more malware issues while Apple devices have fewer.

Apple is more secured thanks to them we have all the pictures of celebrity. They love their customer so much and sharing those private pics are for share to. Haha! Tim cook your security is unhackable. Lol!

so that data that google supplies businesses with for those paid ads is worthless? "they use that information for nothing"? it means nothing? then why would I pay to have ads in gmail if they didn't supply me with click stats and traffic? he's so fired for a lame statement like that.

So who brides Eric about apple. I suppose we should just believe him. Google has access to all our business. He should get some security advice from duck duck go!

The fact he can claim that Google does "nothing" with Gmail is a laugh! I include a reference to a city I've never visited, and suddenly I'm overwhelmed with private emails trying to rent me cars and hotel rooms clearly shows Gmail's contents are available to ANYONE willing to pay for it, no questions asked!

You don't understand how ads work with google, yes google has millions of different ads it can show you, and those ads don't know that they are being shown to you, google searches through your emails to find relevant data that matches up with ads then shows ads that you might be interested in, doesn't mean that googles taking that information and selling it or letting that information leak out to other companies
