For those users that are planning to Jailbreak on then I recommend adding this Cydia Source into Cydia after you jailbreak so you don't have to manually input all the Cydia Sources manually. This will automatically add all the best Cydia Sources and give you access to all the best Cydia Tweaks, Themes and Apps for FREE with just a push of a button. Follow the steps below. 1. Open Cydia 2. Tap Sources 3. Tap Edit 4. Tap Add 5. Type this url in the box (cydiasource,n e t) without the spaces and switch coma for a dot in the url. 6. Tap "Add Source" 7. Install the package labelled "All Sources". This will give you all the best Cydia Sources to have access to all the best Tweaks, Apps and Themes for FREE..

So beware there's an 8.1.1 version now and Pangu doesn't support it... don't just use itunes to download the latest firmware as this guide suggests.. I found this out the hard way.. guess I'm waiting for a Pangu update.. F*@#!

I have followed the above process and successfully jailbroken my 6 plus, however after i restore from backup and reboot my phone by any chance, its stuck at the white logo screen, but usually detected in itunes. I had to re-install 8.1 and re-jailbreak nevery time its stuck. what is the best solution for me?

Done at 2nd Try... Keep iTunes open and it works like a charm ;-)

When they say restore, they mean full restore! Just did it by the book on a mac iPhone 6+

Wait up, so, if you updated to 8.1 via Software update means that you've to "Restore Iphone" first? But then how do you restore your backup without messing up the potentially succesful JB?

StoneCut - November 16, 2014 at 8:37pm
You will be asked if you'd like to restore your backup after the upgrade in iTunes. However, you should first install the jailbreak according to instructions and run Cydia once (important!) and only then restore your backup. See my other post.

After doing the jailbreak according to the instructions above, I have the "pangunew" app showing but no cydia. When I click the pangunew icon, it opens for a second and then closes again taking me back to the springboard.

Crap! It apparently just bricked my iPhone 4S with iOS 8.1. Rehearsed and followed all the instructions to the letter. Pangu8 for Mac said the jailbreak was a success, but iPhone only displays Apple logo briefly then goes black. Is there a way to recover from this? iTunes isn't even recognizing the phone is attached anymore.

Put the phone into DFU mode. Then you can restore it.

after the jailbreak can you turn back on find my iPhone.
StoneCut
StoneCut - November 10, 2014 at 2:51pm
Yes - this is the safe way of doing it: Turn off Touch ID and "Find My iPhone", Reboot and then enable "Airplane Mode". Then jaibreak. After the reboot open Cydia and let it do it's thing (it will close itself). Reboot once more. Run Cydia one more time - it should starting showing packages. Don't install anything yet! Now enable Touch ID and Find My iPhone again. Reboot one last time to make sure. Maybe some of the reboots are a bit redundant but I had some issues with my devices before I followed that protocol.

StoneCut - November 10, 2014 at 4:27pm
No, I made it work without getting a boot loop. This tutorial fails to mention that you absolutely MUST run Cydia once before you can reenable Touch ID and Find Ny Iphone.

Run cydia first...Simple as that
StoneCut
StoneCut - November 10, 2014 at 4:46pm
I guess it's better to be safe than sorry. I explained a method that worked for me after previously following tutorials that omitted that important step and caused me boot loops - just like this one here on iClarified which also doesn't mention you need to do that. What did you do to help people except complain about my method?

I have a 4S which I upgraded to iOS 8.1 and now I regret it. I m pretty much very new to jailbreaking. If I were to jailbreak mine, would I be able to somehow downgrade it to iOS 7.1.2? Any ideas would be greatly helpful.

I just jailbroke my iPhone 6 on 8.1 with my Mac and everything seemed to go well until it rebooted. The Cydia app just crashes everytime i click on it. The Pangu app opens fine but it doesn't serve much purpose. This also happened when I tried the jailbreak through windows a few days ago. I restored my phone and waited for the Mac jailbreak to come out but i am faced with the same issues. Any ideas out there on how to remedy this would be much appreciated!

I encountered this problem before and the problem was that I accidentally didn't disable find my iPhone. Make sure to do this before you begin the jailbreak as Chris will crash like you said if you don't.

After some research and another try I discovered the problem. iTunes must be running during the entire process. Should be added to the article.

I just wanted to confirm that the additional direction offered by Ferdinand8192 worked for me as well. I had to restore from my backup and then run Pangu again with iTunes open and it worked. Prior, you just get the 'pangunew' icon without Cydia, and the Pangu up quits unexpectedly. Oddly, even after restoring the 'pangunew' icon was still there so I just deleted it before re-running the jailbreak. The second time Pangu gave a "Jailbreak Successful" message, unlike the first time when Itunes was closed. Many thanks, Ferdinand8192.

If you having trouble determining the right Pangu to JB. Don't bother Jailbreaking, there is details to follow and if you can't don't that, you will just be frustrated.

Follow the JB to the tea. You skip any step then you can enjoy the crashing.

Make sure you use iTunes to get to iOS 8.1. Not software update. Also, try doing it after a fresh restore. That always works best.
TechnoGeek
TechnoGeek - November 9, 2014 at 7:34pm
@Docisme. If you followed the directions but did not pay attention to what you are using to JB, then it's the same thing. You used the older version of Pangu.
