A new rumor today has revealed the name of the material set to succeed Apple's failed FineWoven accessories, with the company expected to brand its iPhone 17 cases as 'TechWoven.' The report includes images of what are said to be replica packaging for the new products and follows a previous rumor from the same source, leaker Majin Bu on X.
An alleged photo of the replica packaging can be seen below:
According to the post, TechWoven is a technical fabric blend with a robust, non-slip texture designed to be more durable and resistant to scratches than its predecessor. The leaker cautions that the packaging should not be viewed as authentic, explaining that such images are "almost always 1:1 clones of original models." The packaging lists five colors for the new cases: Black, Brown, Blue, Green, and Purple.
The report also claims the cases will feature two lanyard holes for more secure carrying options, an update from the single loop suggested in the earlier leak. The packaging further confirms MagSafe support for charging and accessories.
The report reinforces expectations that Apple is moving on from its heavily criticized FineWoven material. The company officially discontinued its FineWoven accessories for iPhone earlier this year after widespread complaints about their poor durability.
