iOS 27.3 Beta Adds Horizontal Reachability to iPhone Duo

iPhone Duo has gained Reachability support in the first iOS 27.3 developer beta, giving owners a way to bring more of the outer display within reach when using the phone one-handed.

On other iPhones, Reachability lowers the interface to make controls near the top easier to reach. The Duo version works horizontally instead, shifting content to the left or right while the phone is closed. That brings the opposite side of the wider display closer to the thumb holding the device.

The feature can be enabled or disabled under Settings > Accessibility > Touch > Reachability. Once enabled, a short swipe left at the left edge shifts the interface left, while a short swipe right at the right edge moves it right. The setting describes the gesture as a way to bring either side of the screen into reach.

The mode was previously reported to be in development after the Duo's outer-screen layout prompted concerns about left-handed use. That report did not identify which software update would introduce it.

Reachability is available to test in today's iOS 27.3 developer beta. The same update also adds Vertical Tabs and Adaptive Dark Mode in Safari.
