Apple Opens Siri AI App Integrations to All Developers

Apple has opened Siri AI app integrations to all developers through a new preview in the iOS 27.3, iPadOS 27.3, macOS 27.3, and visionOS 27.3 betas. The preview lets apps expose custom content and actions to Siri, with support for combining several actions into a single request.

Using App Intents, developers can build on Siri AI's personal context and onscreen awareness to handle requests such as checking a delivery, booking a reservation, or placing an order. New app skills provide guidance for more complex tasks that require several actions, while Siri can now surface custom content from the Spotlight semantic index without requiring it to fit an existing schema.

That does not give Siri automatic access to everything inside an app. Developers must explicitly make content and actions available through App Intents. One example is finding a pair of shoes saved in a shopping app and sending it to a partner through a messaging app. Developers can adapt existing App Intents code without adding a new entitlement or joining a separate developer program.

The expanded actions are also rolling out across Apple's own apps, including Mail, Maps, Photos, Safari, Files, and Finder. Users can ask Siri to find a coffee shop they visited last week or archive files they have not opened in more than a year. Asking what Siri can do in a particular app brings up more examples.

For third-party developers, this remains a testing preview. Integrations can run in development-signed builds and versions shared with internal TestFlight testers, but not through external TestFlight testing or App Store releases. Xcode's Siri Integration Advisor provides implementation feedback, and a Siri Evaluations framework helps developers test requests and track changes in responses.

Apple says the new capabilities will first reach customers in a few months, with App Store submissions opening in spring 2027. More details on terms and usage policies will follow. The preview arrives alongside the first iOS 27.3 and iPadOS 27.3 developer betas, rather than as an immediate rollout of new integrations to everyone.

An Apple Intelligence-capable device and a supported language are required. Siri AI currently supports English, French, Japanese, Korean, Portuguese, and Spanish, with Traditional Chinese, Norwegian, Turkish, and Vietnamese coming soon. It remains unavailable on iPhone, iPad, and Apple Watch in the EU, and is not available to users under 13.

Developers can consult the Siri AI Developer Preview documentation or join Apple Intelligence Group Labs with Apple engineers on November 4 from 9–10 a.m. PT and November 5 from 6–7 p.m. PT.
