Apple Refuses to Repair New iMac Pro [Video]

Apple has purportedly refused to repair a new iMac Pro belonging to Linus Tech Tips, a popular YouTube channel.

WE broke our iMac Pro... But then we tried to PAY Apple to repair it. They REFUSED. Come with us on a journey of frustration...

It appears that the issue involves Apple not having the support structure in place to facilitate out of warranty repairs on the new desktop.

Your analogy of buying a new car and “accidentally” running it into a lamp post is incorrect. What you did is equivalent to a person who’s not an authorized repair person buying a Tesla, dismantling the entire car, putting it back together and damaging the engine of the car and asking them to repair it. Why would anyone trust that you put things back properly and aren’t going to have further issues with the product and ask for warranty to replace other parts. You make a YouTube video expecting us to feel sorry for you when you take apart things that have nothing wrong with them and make advertising money on your videos. I’m glad they didn’t fix it, if you want to take it apart, get someone who’s authorized or else take your chances.

First of all you are allowed to take apart products, and warranty void stickers are illegal. And if you would not repair products that only you can produce you violate consumer right to repair. (at least replacement parts should be accessible to their repair shops, I'm not talking about 3rd party ones). If you don't provide service and repair possibility, you are selling fraudulent product and services which is a big no-no, and might create a lot of legal issues.

Serves them right for doing scammy crap and trying to pull Apple's leg. Next time be honest, upfront and come back with a legit hardware issue.

Also appears the card was probably plugged in and cause a short circuit . That could be considered intentional, and who knows if any other damage was done by the intentional act. However many states they required to provide access of parts to third parties. Right to fix laws or something..

Your not allowed to take apples products apart, that’s in the license agreement. And technically it would be more like if you bought a brand new car, took it apart, broke a whole bunch of stuff while in it, put it back together and broke the windshield, took it back to the dealer to get the windshield fixed, and expecting them to fix everything else that’s wrong with the car. At some point there’s things with computers that can’t be fixed, you should know that Linus, to be honest I don’t like your video, I went to watch the Xbox one X tear down video, and all it was was a assembly video, not a tear down.

They agreed to pay for the service. That could be considered discrimination not to fix it. Since they are the only ones that sell the parts. Regardless breaking the terms , still could be considered discrimination.
