BBC iPlayer Coming to the iPhone

BBC today announced that the iPlayer service is to be made available on Apple's iPhone and iPod Touch devices.

The iPlayer was improved and relaunched shortly before a major marketing campaign began on Christmas Day, and has seen shows streamed or downloaded more than 17m times since then.

iPhone and iPod Touch owners will be able to view iPlayer content within the next few weeks. This will be the first time the BBC TV service has been available on anything but a PC or Mac computer.

It is unclear whether the iPhone iPlayer will be a dedicated or web based player; however, with the release of the SDK coming very soon a dedicated player is very possible.
