Can Anyone tell me what version Am I supposed to download for 3.0.04 I dont get which firmware to use

When i download the iPhone2,1_3.1.2_7D11_Restore it's not a ispw file is a zip file.

I can't get past step five. it says" Unable to recognize ISPW " what does this mean? and how do i fix it?

Is it true that if I currently have OS 3.0.1, I won't be able to upgrade to 3.1.2? I tried to JB and kept getting the 3194 error when I tried to restore to 3.1.2. What's the way to upgrade??? Do I have to wait until someone come up with JB 4.1 in order to upgrade my OS? Please advice. Thank you so much.

if you have never jailbroken, then now is NOT the time to jailbreak, you have to wait till 4.1 is jailbreakable.

Quick question, i am currently running a jailbroken 3gs with 3.0.1. I want to update to 3.1.2 but not 4.0.1/ I tried to do the shift click restore method, but it wouldnt take. probably because i never had this firmware installed in the first place. is there any way to install a specific firmware, without updating to the curent one and backtracking? thanks

if you have not backed up signatures for your phone, i highly doubt you could upgrade to 3.1.2/

Dear Team, i have been observing all the post in regards with jailbreak iphone 3GS but it seems that thre is something still to be explained or provide a little bit guideness as i know those who have 3GS (old botroom) are experiment some issue at the time to restore the IPSW created by the software...it seems that apple constantly refuse to update with the firmware...i am been trying to do everything according with your guideness but i can not get through to unlock or jailbreak my iphone 3GS (old botroom) I would like to ask a simple question; why it is that when you finish to create the IPSW with Redsn0w or Pwgnage tool this IPSW when you are using Itunes does not upgrade that IPSW, why is keep giving an error message? your response to his inquiry will be highly appreciated.

Ok this is frustrating....I followed step by step based on this tutorials. After I restore the firmware 3.1.2 and install the redsnow all I see is the completely black out screen nothing comes up and I cant power on/off ...NOTHING. But when I connect to the Itune it says im in the recovery mode but you cant really see it because the screen is black. Anyway, I have 3GS 16gb and if anyone experience the same please share. i have not experienced it, however; i could think of the following: 1) try the procedure on a different pc, with a freshly downloaded FW and redsnow, 2) try restoring 3.1.2 then balckrain it, just to see what happens 3) if all fails and you have an OLD bootrom, try OS4

i just have a question, i have two iphone 3gs, both 3.1.2 / 05.11.07 / 51week, one i didn't touch at all, fresh from at&t, locked and not in use, the other one i did redsnow several months back, so now its tethered jailbroken and unlocked. is the perfect jailbreak out yet? do i need to treat these two phones with two different methods if i want to unlock and jaibreak them perfectly? if yes what should i use? its been bothering me for months, since the untouched phone was a birthday present for my dad but i still haven't give him yet cause he doesn't know how to tethered boot it, any help?

if you have new bootrom, do 3.1.3, or wait till 4 is jailbroken for your phone, otherwise, upgrade to 4 reading the guide.

Hi, I have tried jailbreaking my iPhone using redsn0w but I keep going back to recovery mode (the USB + iTunes logo) after reboot. Even if I just tick the "'just tether to reboot'" it still doing the same thing... Any idea how to fix this? Any help will be greatly appreciated. Thanks

My old iphone just crashed and got a replacement one. was relieved to see 3.1.2 7D11 and the correct 5.11.07 base band. I have tried Blackra1n and redsn0w several times but i can't get it to Jailbreak Redsn0w: hangs at uploading exploit and that's it Blackra1n: seems to go through fine, but the blackra1n icon never appears! the interesting thing is that my old restore file kept the #% for wi fi and battery.. should I try a fresh ipsw file and see if that works? but then I have to rebuild everything from scratch! I was able to jailbreak into my iPhone after several tries. It also got unlocked but i am not able to connect to my belkin wireless router, it says 'unable to join network' even after i supply the correct password. I am using WPA aecurity. After that, i tried with WEP(using index key 1 passkey) but that did not work either. When i switch off the security on my router it gets connected. Can some one tell me what security and encryption technique should i use with my iPhone?

So I decided to do a new Jb using 3.1.2.....IT DOESN'T WORK!!!!, when the ipsw is checked with the fkn Apple servers it gets denied, so this tutorial is useless unless there is a workaround or may be that the ipsw is not the rt one?

Thx I forgot that and also that I just installed my full ver of Win7, so it means that there is a small mistake on the tutorial and they skipped the step about the Host file. Thanks again! :) My only issue now is my baseband is 05.11.07.....unlock.......

I tried doing my second phone, it has the newer bootrom, for that I will need to run redsnow everytime i restart the or turn off the phone rt?, btw, I still don't get the way it works after 2 tries i gave up, supposedly the phone got jb but when it reeboted i got back to the "connect to itunes screen", so now it's running 3.1.3.....I hate Mapple.....

unless you updated it to 3.1.3, do not assume that you are running it on your iphone. try running redsnow again to boot your iphone, if that did not work; restore to 3.1.2 (using the method in http://www.saurik.com/id/12) then run blackrain, AND REMEMBER, DONT upgrade to 3.1.3.

It depends on what OS ur using, Xp is just look for the file and "shift+rt click", then select "open with", use Wordpad, after finished click "save" so the name and type stays the same. On vista or Win7 u have to open Wordpad as and "administrator", so look for the program on ur start menu, instead of left click to open use "rt click" and select "Run as Admin..", after finishing the mod just select "save".

Try keeping a flash disk plugged into a USB port while you are restoring the firmware and jb, and tell me what happens!!!!!

this thing doesnt work for the 3gs on 3.1.2 or 3.1.3 either... i have a older 3gs- week 05. iinitially it was on 3.1.2 i tried jailbreaking as mentioned above and the process ran smoothly until it had to reboot at the end. well it did not reboot and remained stuck in the recovery mode. I then did a restore to 3.1.3, didnt have any other option. And again tried jailbreaking with the method described above. Now redsnow says jailbreaking done, rest of the process to be completed on the iphone. But nothing actually happens on the phone. Then i normally tried switching it on again and it came to life but not jailbroken. I am still on 3.1.3 without a jailbreak.... SO THIS METHOD DOESNT WORK.... PEOPLE WHO HAVE 3GS 3.1.2 BE AWAY FROM IT OTHERWISE YOU WILL HAVE TO RESTORE TO 3.1.3 IN THE END.... BEWARE GUYS!!!

The iPhone2,1_3.1.2_7D11_Restore.ipsw doesn't exist in the zip file downloaded from the link shown above in this tutorial. Is there somewhere else we can obtain it since it looks like there's a new firmware (3.1.3) now?

If you are using Explorer it won't work, try dowloading the file through firefox.

I have week 49 of iphone 3gs, i selected yes for when it ask me if its older than 41 week. Redsnow began jailbreaking, but after its done and it reboots Im still stuck at the plug cable into itunes. Did i do something wrong.

I you follow the instruction and read all the information it will tell you that if your Iphone manufactured in week of 40 or 45 it will have fixed bootrom and you will need to plug your device into computer and using either blackrain or redsnow every time you turn off and turn on your device... please re-read carefully the instruction.. another word for it tether jailbreak

Everything went on smoothly until the final part where the installing take part on the phone itself... it shut down automatically but never reboot. waited for almost 20 mins but it still never boot up... restored and jb again for 4 times.. still having the same problem..

i figured it out. i was checking "already pwned" option on redsnow (beacuse it was) and i was getting a bright black light on iphone but nothing else after step eleven. then i tried to do it without checking "already pwned" and it worked. other than that blackra1n unlock brings issues about wifi and gps. but there's solutions on the net.

i also have this problem. but for my case i do not have the option of unchecking already pawned. please help!

after shutdown/boot, how come i cant find the cydia icon? it says DONE...

and i tried both 'just tether to reboot' and 'install cydia' i still cant find the cydia icon after the screen is back on, it seems like nothing had happen....so wat does that mean? so where can i find cydia on my phone?

After i finished step 11, my iphone screen just show a pic of cable connecting to itunes and it just freeze there.

Hi Wong! just to confirmed with u that after JB with above instruction than after restart or reboot ur 3GS iphone there is not locked anymore (no need to run Blackra1n) to go normal mode. Thanks for your reply. Chheng
