Apple Updates Mac Mini With Double the Storage

Apple has announced an update to the Mac mini that doubles the storage for standard configurations.

Whether they are using it as a desktop computer, a music and movie storage hub for the family, or as a code compile server for Xcode, customers love Mac mini. The standard configurations of Mac mini now come with double the storage capacity. The $799 configuration now comes standard with 256GB, while the $1,099 configuration features 512GB of storage, and every Mac mini is made from 100 percent recycled aluminum.

The $799 Mac mini still has a 3.6GHz quad-core 8th-generation Intel Core i3 processor. The $1099 Mac mini comes with a 3.0GHz 6-core 8th-generation Intel Core i5 processor.

Why is this described as an “update”? It’s just a price drop from the former ridiculous storage prices. No new hardware (CPU), no new GPU, etc. Only a new 8-core CPU option with new GPU would make me consider upgrading from the 6-core Mac Mini that I already have, and am very happy with. Just ‘more storage’ will not.
