iPhone 12 and iPhone 12 Pro Drop Tests [Video]

The first iPhone 12 and iPhone 12 Pro drop tests have been posted online. We've shared a couple videos below for those interested.

Apple claims that the new ceramic shield on 5G iPhone 12 models will offer 4X better drop performance. The shield is made by introducing nano-ceramic crystals — which are actually harder than most metals — into glass.

Sounds simple, but it’s incredibly difficult because most ceramics aren’t transparent. By controlling the type of crystals and degree of crystallinity, we developed an exclusive formula that maximizes the toughness of the ceramic while remaining optically clear. This was the breakthrough that made Ceramic Shield ideally suited for the display. It’s a first in any smartphone, and it’s tougher than any smartphone glass.

Notably, initial tests do show an improvement in durability; however, results for which model is the most durable differ.

Seems like the iPhone is slowly aging out of the long fold joke of being prone to drop damage for the screen area. Glad we finally got this to come as an out of the box feature.
