Urban Anomaly and the City of Lexington, Kentucky, have released an application for easy reporting of non-emergency issues in Lexington-Fayette Urban County, the second largest city in Kentucky. The Lexington 311 app works with iPhone tools to enable citizens send reports to the LexCall 311 centralized service and information contact center.
Mayor Jim Newberry presented the application today at the Creative Cities Summit in Lexington.
Lexington 311 is a customized version of Urban Anomaly's 311 Universal iPhone application. Like 311 Universal, it includes a pinpoint tool that improves the accuracy of the iPhone's GPS reported coordinates and provides the physical address of the problem, boosting the City's ability to locate and resolve the issue. The app organizes email reports that contain the exact information needed to respond to the problem: a description, photographs, contact information and the precise location.
The application was developed in just a few days for less than $2,000. "I'm very excited to bring this simple but effective tool to iPhone users in Lexington at such a low cost to the City. The thoughtful deployment of mobile applications like these will democratize the new ways citizens interact with their governments," said Steve Barham, Director and Lead Designer of Urban Anomaly.
Pricing and Availability: Lexington 311 is free and available exclusively through the App Store in the Utilities category.
