Plex has announced that it's expanding the preview of its redesigned app experience to Apple TV.
We're thrilled to expand the preview of our newly reimagined Plex experience to include testing on Apple TV, with more platforms coming soon. Please keep in mind this is nowhere close to perfect, but we want to get feedback from the community as early as we can. The app will get better over time!
The redesigned app was first unveiled in November 2024 for mobile. It features a redesign interface to simplify navigation with centralized media libraries and a dedicated Watchlist tab. The update also introduces richer artwork across the app, enhancing the visual experience on movie, show, and profile pages.
Additional announcements today include the release of HEVC hardware encoding for Plex Pass holders, the ability to comment on reviews, and public profiles on watch.plex.tv.
To us, discovery isn't just about finding what to watch, but also about finding more friends and fans like you in the process. For that reason you can now access your Plex profile on watch.plex.tv, and make it visible to ANYONE! By default all Plex users are findable by other Plex users in the app via search (unless you've already changed this setting). By making your profile publicly accessible on watch.plex.tv you can easily share a link to your profile with others so that they can see what you've been watching, what's on your Watchlist, and more! Who knows, maybe you'll find the next Statler to your Waldorf.
