These are instructions on how jailbreak your second generation Apple TV using Seas0nPass.

Skref 1
Það þarf að sækja forrit sem heitir Seas0nPass
Hérna.

Skref 2
Tví smellið á .zip file-inn sem sóttur var ( Hvítt logo ) og tvísmellið svo aftur á Seas0nPass.app (Rautt Logo)

Skref 3
Tölvan á eftir að spyrja þig um Stjórnanda lykilorðið af tölvunni þinni, Sláið það inn og ýtið á OK takkan.

Skref 4
Tölvan spyr hvort þú viljir leyfa Seas0nPass til að láta iTunes endurstilla Aptv2-ið þitt. Til þess að allt gangi upp þá er best að velja Enable takkann.

Skref 5
Ýtið á Create IPSW Takkan í aðalvalinu

Skref 6
Seas0nPass mun núna sækja nýjustu uppfærslu af Aptv2 iOs

Skref 7
Seas0nPass Mun núna búa til IPSW file sem inniheldur stýrikerfið fyrir Aptv2.

Skref 8
Nú þegar forritið er búin að búa til IPSW file-inn. Seas0nPass mun núna biðja þig að tengja Aptv2 við tölvuna með Micro USB snúrunni. Svo þarftu að nota fjarstýringuna sem fylgdi með Aptv2 til að setja tækið í svokallað DFU mode, það er gert með að halda PLAY/PAUSE tökkunum báðum inni í 7 Sek.
ATH: Rafmagnssnúran á ekki að vera í sambandi í þessu skrefi

Skref 9
Núna þegar Tölvan hefur fundið Aptv2 í DFU mode, mun Seas0nPass uppfæra nokkrum file-um og sjálfkrafa opna iTunes, og byrja enduruppsetningu tækisins.

Skref 10
Nú er þetta komið AppleTV-ið þitt er nú laus úr dýflissu Apple.

You failed to mention Seas0nPass is only usable on OS 10.6 or above. Bummer.

Got update done now xmbc player crashes when i try to stream anything , bloodly ATV2 useless now.

are you sure your using seasonpass? pwnagetool caused major xbmc issues where as seasonpass did not. i do recall though that people had issues with smb (couldnt find computers when adding remote share). perhaps try re-adding your share using your computer ip instead of the default way of browsing network shares. also, visit the xbmc section for atv2g ;)

Yup done it with seas0n , xbmc runs ok finds my files starts to say 'working' than crashes back to atv2 main menu.

I still don't understand the point of jailbreaking the appletv yet. Is it just to get XBMC? That's not a good enough reason, for me at least. I want some games or other substantial functionality before I jailbreak. Please let me know if I'm way off here.

Thats the whole point dude, imagine you AppleTV able to play everyformat without the limitations of iTunes. Coverting formats is never optimal, you loose quality and its just silly limitation. With XBMC you can share any drive including network disk and play your stuff wirelesly from your devices trough AppleTV. Perfect. XBMC gives also option to install numerous plugins, some of the are less useful others I use daily. JB is justified to any iOS-device, could not imagine using them without anymore. Its a pitty that Apple does not impelent those great functionalities in the iOS.. like sbsettings, lockinfo, AirPlay Enabler....

yeah its basically the only thing to do really. i dont see how its not worth it. xbmc nightly builds have made xbmc fantastic on the atv2g now. it used to run like shite but its improved now and seems to handle medium bitrate 1080p files fine. pwnagetool sucks major ass for xbmc though. not sure what the dev team missed with it but seasonpass is the way to go for atv2g

ok after jb with seasonpass u need to ssh and manually install nitotv :)

Whats the purpose of jailbreaking apple tv ? I want to get one ? its like $100 super cheap Do I get free movies or something like that ? Can someone explain? Thank you
