Many people (including us) have been finally able to pre-order the iPhone 4 via Apple.com after hours of downtime. It seems as if the servers are finally up and running again. Go ahead and try it out, and let us know in the comments!

Looks like I'm camping out. Shouldn't be too big an issue since I live in a pretty rural town. Just wonder how many att&t will have here?

I started at around 6:30am on the Apple site yesterday. After about 100 attempts called Apple over 80 times and was finally able to get through to a warm body but they told me their systems were down. Then I decided to go to my local AT&T store around 10am. The store was such a mess that they had to give me a handwritten carbon copy receipt because all systems crashed. At this point I wasn't too sure but had faith my order would be placed. Then at about 5pm the AT&T rep calls me and tells me my order would not be in until July because they didn't input my order until 4:30pm. I told him to cancel my order and went back to the Apple site where after 15-20 attempts I was finally able to get my order done. I took a snapshot of my completed order and called Apple antihero 20 times to be put in hold for 15 minutes. Finally a rep came on and told me my order number was confirmed. What a nightmare!!!

Apple now says shipping on July 2. All phones are sold out for the first shipment scheduled June 24.

Placed order 32 GB black apple.com. states ship by jul 2nd for delivery jul 6-8. Apple.com was very slow before and stated delivery jun 24 but would hang up at order completion page. its much faster now but delivery date has been changed. :( oh well at least i should get one before too long. order completed 10:53pm eastern.

Would u pay full price for an unlocked iPhone 4? $599 for an unlocked iPhone? Will apple offer that option? in UK they sell iPhone unlocked

Apple - Successful order at approx. 1630. Order number received. Credit card was charged. Delivery ETA 06/24. ATT - As of 1820, continued reports (from fellow HoFo bros) of problematic ordering process. Inability to access order page, timing out during order process, reports of security breach.

I managed to place my order at 6:40 PM EST. After trying several times during the day, but not too persistent, I got home and noticed ATT had sold out, that threw me into an F5 frenzy for about 40 minutes until, finally my order went through. I still have not received an order confirmation via e-mail but I do have the order number and the order confirmation final screen saved.

It worked for me. I did one at 5:30am and it worked but after work around 6pm it didnt work until around 7 or so.

yep. Got it done. For hours the only option was to reserve but I don't like that. Finally it let me add to cart and checkout. I have a fan account and no issues. (besides the insane downtime)

How can i place an order with no commitment? I can only do an upgrade but i wantto buy a phone without a contract.( though i have att contract) but i dont want to renew the contract. So anyone knows how to do it online?

Just placed my order at 7:12pm CST. Still haven't gotten the email confirmation. Only have the screen confirmation at the end of the order process. Now to wait and see when I get it.
