Apple's second-generation AirPods Max are currently on sale for $509 on Amazon. That's a discount of $40 off their regular retail price of $549 and an all-time low for the headphones since their release on April 1.
Apple unveiled the AirPods Max 2 earlier this year, bringing the H2 chip to its over-ear lineup for the first time. The upgraded silicon powers a new computational audio algorithm that makes Active Noise Cancellation up to 1.5 times more effective than the previous generation. It also adds Adaptive Audio, which blends noise cancellation and transparency based on your surroundings, and Conversation Awareness, which automatically lowers your media volume when you start speaking.
Live Translation is also supported. Powered by Apple Intelligence, users can press and hold the listening mode button to translate spoken languages in real time.
When connected with a USB-C cable, the headphones support 24-bit, 48 kHz lossless audio playback. The design remains largely unchanged, with the same knit-mesh canopy, textile ear cushions, and telescoping arms as the previous model. Battery life is rated at up to 20 hours of listening with Active Noise Cancellation and Spatial Audio enabled.
The $509 price currently applies to the Blue and Starlight colorways, while Midnight and Purple are seeing similar markdowns at $509.99.
