Apple has rolled out a new beta firmware update for developers testing its wireless audio lineup. The firmware, identified as version 9.0.304 (build 9A5304b), is available for the AirPods Pro 3, AirPods Pro 2, AirPods 4, and AirPods Max 2.
The release arrives as Apple continues testing the audio features announced alongside iOS 27. During WWDC 2026, the company previewed several upcoming additions for AirPods, including custom EQ controls across the lineup and GymKit on iPhone for AirPods Pro 3.
Apple has not yet published release notes detailing what's new in build 9A5304b.
Registered developers can opt into the pre-release software directly from their iPhone. Once the beta option is enabled in the device settings, the firmware installs automatically in the background when the headphones are charging and within Bluetooth range of a connected device. Apple notes that once the beta software is applied, the devices cannot be rolled back to an earlier release and will remain on the beta track until a newer public version becomes available.
For those looking to pick up a new pair of AirPods, Apple's latest models are currently seeing substantial Prime Day discounts. The AirPods Pro 3 have dropped to a record-low $179, while the AirPods Max 2 are available at an all-time low price of $399.
