1Password has launched a new integration that lets Anthropic's Claude use your stored credentials to complete browser tasks without ever seeing your passwords.
The feature, called 1Password for Claude, is built on what 1Password describes as a zero-exposure security framework. When Claude needs to sign in to a website, 1Password shows you which credential is being requested and why. After you approve with a biometric prompt, 1Password injects the login directly into the page. The password, one-time code, and any other secrets never enter Claude's context, memory, or Anthropic's systems. Access is scoped to the current task and ends when that task is complete. After autofill, 1Password checks that secrets were not exposed on the page. If a submission fails, it clears the filled values before returning control to Claude.
"The answer isn't handing agents your secrets," said Nancy Wang, CTO of 1Password. "It is to let a user give an agent permission to use a credential without letting the agent see it. Claude knows it used your login; it does not need the password or one-time code in its context. That distinction is where trust in agents starts and the foundation we're building with Anthropic."
1Password also introduced Agentic Mode for its browser extension. Claude already has the ability to take over your Mac to perform tasks, and Agentic Mode automatically locks down the vault whenever a compatible AI agent assumes control of the browser. The 1Password interface is hidden, and the agent can use only the logins and one-time codes explicitly approved for the current task. Users can see when the mode is active and cancel it at any time.
1Password for Claude is available now for Mac users on business, family, and individual plans. It requires the 1Password desktop app and browser extension, along with the Claude desktop app and the Claude in Chrome extension. A Pro, Max, Team, or Enterprise Claude plan is also needed. Support for payment cards and identity items is planned for a later update. If you don't already have a 1Password account, you can start with a free trial here.
