iPhone 18 Pro Pre-Orders May Move to Saturday, September 12 [Report]

Apple may skip its usual Friday pre-order schedule for the iPhone 18 Pro this year, opening orders on Saturday, September 12 instead, according to Macworld, citing its German sister publication Macwelt.



The company announced its September 9 event earlier this week without saying when orders would open. That keynote falls on a Wednesday, which would ordinarily put pre-orders on Friday, September 11 - the 25th anniversary of the terrorist attacks, and the reason the report gives for the change.


The same source puts the start time at midnight PT rather than the 5 a.m. PT Apple normally uses. A Saturday opening would not be a first either, since the iPhone 6s and iPhone 6s Plus went up for pre-order on Saturday, September 12, 2015, for the same reason.

Apple Watch Series 12 and Apple Watch Ultra 4 are expected to fall under the same Saturday window, along with anything else introduced at the event.

The foldable iPhone Ultra is on a timeline of its own, with pre-orders that may not open until late September. Apple has split a lineup before. The iPhone X did not open for pre-order until six weeks after its 2017 announcement, and the iPhone 12 mini and iPhone 12 Pro Max followed the iPhone 12 and iPhone 12 Pro by three weeks in 2020.
