Apple has announced a special event for Wednesday, September 9 at 10 a.m. Pacific with the tagline "Surprise and shine." The company revealed the timing on its official events page, noting the presentation will stream on apple.com and through the Apple TV app. Select members of the media have also been invited to Apple Park.
iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max The keynote is expected to introduce the iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max. Apple is widely expected to split its iPhone lineup this year, with the standard iPhone 18, iPhone 18e, and iPhone Air 2 reportedly moving to spring 2027. Recent iOS 27 beta references have lent further support to that release strategy.
The Pro models are expected to use Apple's 2-nanometer A20 Pro chip. Previous reports have also pointed to Apple's C2 modem. They could also feature a variable aperture main camera, potentially limited to the Pro Max. Pricing remains an open question, as higher component costs could push the new models above current pricing.
Foldable iPhone Ultra The biggest announcement could be Apple's first foldable iPhone. Bloomberg previously reported that employees internally refer to the device as the iPhone Ultra. Reports describe a book-style design with a 5.3- to 5.5-inch outer display and a 7.6- to 7.8-inch inner display. To accommodate its thin design, the device is also rumored to use side-mounted Touch ID instead of Face ID. It is further expected to omit a telephoto camera and carry a price above $2,000. Apple is also said to be planning a staggered rollout following the announcement.
Apple Watch and smart home Apple Watch Series 12 and Apple Watch Ultra 4 are also expected, with updated chips and health features likely to headline the changes rather than a major redesign. The event could also include refreshed Apple TV and HomePod mini models, along with the company's long-rumored home hub, though not every product is guaranteed to appear during the September event.
Software and leadership The event will be John Ternus' first iPhone keynote since succeeding Tim Cook as CEO on September 1. Apple is also expected to announce release dates for iOS 27, iPadOS 27, macOS Golden Gate, and its other upcoming software updates.
