Apple's latest iOS 27 developer beta contains references to six unreleased iPhone models hidden in battery-related system files. First discovered by Macworld, the identifiers were found in code related to battery drivers and Battery Intelligence, offering the clearest look yet at Apple's upcoming iPhone lineup. While Apple has not announced any of these devices, the references align with earlier reports about the company's next generation of iPhones.
Rather than marketing names, the code uses Apple's internal codenames. Based on previous reporting that linked these identifiers to upcoming devices, the six references are believed to correspond to:
● V62: iPhone Air 2 ● V63: iPhone 18 Pro ● V64: iPhone 18 Pro Max ● V67: iPhone 18 ● V68: iPhone Ultra (believed to be Apple's foldable iPhone) ● V69: iPhone 18e
Although the individual identifiers have surfaced before, this is the first time the entire group has appeared together in iOS 27's code. The V68 codename has previously been linked to Apple's first foldable iPhone, which multiple reports suggest could carry the iPhone Ultra name. Earlier iOS 27 betas also uncovered support for foldable displays and hinge angle detection.
The location of the references is also notable. Their presence in battery-related components is consistent with Apple preparing iOS for the power-management characteristics of future hardware. Earlier betas also pointed to dual-battery support, a capability that would be consistent with the power requirements of a foldable iPhone. The newly discovered codenames do not reveal any specifications, but they indicate Apple is continuing to add software support for upcoming devices.
Reports continue to indicate the iPhone 18 Pro, iPhone 18 Pro Max, and iPhone Ultra will debut at Apple's September event, while the standard iPhone 18, iPhone Air 2, and iPhone 18e are expected to follow in early 2027, marking a departure from the single-launch strategy Apple has traditionally used.
