Anthropic has launched Personal Finance in Claude, letting users connect financial accounts through Plaid and ask questions about their spending, balances, and upcoming bills. Access is read-only: Claude cannot move, manage, or invest money.

The beta is rolling out gradually in the United States on Pro, Max, and Ultra plans, with support for the web, Claude Desktop, iOS, and Android. Free, Team, and Enterprise accounts are not eligible.
Users can ask where their money went during the month, compare spending with previous months, or look for duplicate charges, unexpected fees, and rising bills. Claude can also explain financial terms and calculate figures such as interest already charged.

Follow-up questions can narrow the picture to what is left before payday. The feature can produce spending charts, calendars of upcoming payments, and adjustable dashboards, rather than only written answers.

Accounts are connected by signing in to a bank through Plaid, so Claude does not ask for or see the bank password. Users choose which accounts to share. Available data includes bank and account names, account types and last digits, balances, credit limits, and up to two years of transactions.
Anthropic says conversations inside the Personal Finance hub are not used to train its models. Information shared outside that hub follows the user's normal privacy settings. Chats that use linked accounts are also designed to be excluded from Claude's memory and subsequent chat searches.
Unlinking a bank stops future access, but information already included in chats, generated content, or shared links remains until removed. Sharing a conversation can therefore expose financial figures in its messages and replies.
The Help Center cautions that balances can be a day or two old and that unavailable accounts can leave spending totals incomplete. Important figures should be checked against bank statements or the bank's own app. Personal Finance is not designed to provide investment advice.
To get started as the rollout reaches their account, eligible users can open Personal Finance in Claude's side menu and link a bank through Plaid. Only U.S. banks are supported.
