Sonos Unveils Beam Ultra Soundbar and Ace Ultra Headphones

Sonos has introduced the Beam Ultra soundbar and Ace Ultra headphones, expanding its home theater and personal listening lineups with new audio hardware and deeper integration across the Sonos system. Both products are available to pre-order today ahead of a September 29 launch.



The Beam Ultra keeps the Beam's compact form factor while adding nine custom drivers, including two dedicated up-firing drivers that deliver 7.1.2 Dolby Atmos and warmer bass. A redesigned center channel is designed to improve dialogue clarity, with four levels of AI Speech Enhancement and Night Sound for late viewing. The soundbar can be paired with a Sonos Sub or rear surrounds, which can now include compatible Sonos portable speakers.



The Ace Ultra is a new premium over-ear headphone built with a Sonos-designed 40mm driver and Adaptive ANC powered by ten microphones. Battery life is rated at up to 35 hours with ANC enabled.


It is also the first headphone built on Headphone Engine 2, new hardware that enables a direct connection to the Sonos system through headphone linking, currently available in Early Access. One press moves whatever is playing on the system to the headphones, while another sends it back without requiring a phone in range.



Both products were tuned with input from the Sonos Soundboard. Beam Ultra supports multi-room listening and Trueplay room tuning, while TrueCinema tunes Ace Ultra when it is receiving audio from a compatible soundbar. Beam Ultra connects over Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, and HDMI eARC, while Ace Ultra supports USB-C and 3.5mm connections. The Sonos system supports more than 100 streaming services.

Beam Ultra is priced at $699 and Ace Ultra at $449, with pre-orders available starting today at Sonos and select retail partners. Both products will be generally available September 29. The Beam Ultra and Ace Ultra are also available to pre-order on Amazon.
