Leaked Renders Show LG Smart Home Accessories Developed With Apple

Renders shared by leaker pdfu offer a first look at LG's smart lock, thermostat, and temperature sensor, following a report that Apple helped develop the accessories.

Yesterday, Bloomberg reported that Apple is partnering with LG on a range of smart home products, also including a video doorbell and security cameras. The devices are expected to carry LG branding, with LG handling manufacturing and customer support while Apple contributes to their design and engineering.

The deadbolt has a circular exterior keypad and a separate interior housing with a thumb turn. Its keypad rotates to open, and an included swivel pin can limit the rotation on one side to keep it from hitting a wall.

The post lists automatic unlocking, tap-to-unlock, emergency power, and master codes among its features. Settings cover the touchpad light ring, an audio alarm, and lock sound volume. Two mechanical keys are also included.

The thermostat has a round white body with a large temperature readout and up and down controls. Its settings include a "Far Sight" display, humidity display, brightness, and language, along with temperature calibration and offset options.

A separate white puck measures temperature and humidity. The sensor has a magnetic back for mounting on metal surfaces and comes with an adhesive-backed metal plate for use elsewhere. Its battery is replaceable, with alerts when a replacement is needed.

The accessories are expected to work with Apple's upcoming smart home hub, as well as upgraded HomePod mini and Apple TV models. While those Apple products are reportedly planned for October 13, yesterday's report put consumer availability of the LG accessories at least a few more months away.
