Untethered iOS 27.0.1 Jailbreak Demonstrated on iPhone 18 Pro [Video]

Security firm Calif has demonstrated an untethered jailbreak on an iPhone 18 Pro running iOS 27.0.1, with the modified state surviving a restart. The team presented its work at the Hexacon security conference in Paris on October 16 and published videos of the demonstrations.

There is no public jailbreak tool or release date in the announcement. The researchers say "Everything will be released in due time," without specifying whether that means a ready-to-use jailbreak, technical research, or exploit code.

One video shows an SSH connection to the phone with root privileges. The terminal displays uid=0 and identifies the hardware as iPhone19,2. Its software output shows iOS 27.0.1, build 24A446, matching the update Apple released in September. Root access gives the session privileges unavailable to ordinary iPhone apps.

A separate clip, titled 'iPhone 18 Pro Persistent Jailbreak,' shows the phone restarting and being unlocked with its normal passcode, then returning to its modified state. That persistence is what makes the demonstration untethered: the jailbreak does not need to be manually reactivated after every reboot. It is not a demonstration of bypassing the owner's passcode.

The same post includes one-click exploit demonstrations involving Signal and iMessage. It does not explain the vulnerabilities behind the jailbreak or list other supported devices and software versions. Apple's security-release page still lists iOS 27.0.1 as the latest public iPhone software.

For existing public tools, compatibility remains device- and version-specific. Dopamine 3.0 supports iOS 26.0 through 26.0.1 on A12 and A13 devices, not the iPhone 18 Pro shown here. It is also semi-untethered, requiring reactivation after a restart. Current tool and device support is covered in the iClarified Jailbreak Guide.
