Best iPhone Duo Accessories: Chargers, Cases, Screen Protectors, and More

Posted 31 minutes ago by

The only accessory in the iPhone Duo box is a one-meter USB-C cable. There is no power adapter or MagSafe Charger, and a foldable that starts at $1,999 has a hinge and two screens to protect, so most buyers will want a few things on day one.

Here are the chargers, cables, cases, screen protectors, power banks, and mounts worth considering, starting with what it takes to get Duo's fastest charging speeds.

Power Adapters

Apple says iPhone Duo can charge to 50 percent in about 20 minutes with the cable from the box and either its 40W Dynamic Power Adapter with 60W Max or a third-party adapter that can deliver 60W or more, supports USB Power Delivery 3.2, and uses Adjustable Voltage Supply (AVS). Apple tested with the phone open.

Apple's adapter is the one used in those tests. UGREEN's Nexode Air 65W supports AVS for less, and its 100W version also supports AVS and can charge a MacBook Pro. The 20-minute figure depends on AVS, so look for it on any other charger's spec sheet; a higher wattage alone does not establish it.

MagSafe and Wireless Chargers

Duo supports MagSafe and Qi2 wireless charging at up to 25W. Apple rates it at 50 percent in about 30 minutes with a MagSafe Charger and a 35W or higher adapter, so the 40W Dynamic Power Adapter covers both. The charger comes in 1-meter and 2-meter lengths.

For a desk or nightstand, ESR's 3-in-1 stand and Belkin's foldable 2-in-1 charge at up to 25W with Qi2.2 and list iPhone Duo as compatible.

USB-C Cables

The cable in the box is enough for fast charging. Apple's 60W cable is a straightforward spare, and its 240W cable doubles the length. Both move data at USB 2 speeds. Duo supports transfers up to 10Gb/s with a USB 3 cable, and Apple's Thunderbolt 5 Pro Cable handles that, as does its 1.8-meter Thunderbolt 4 Pro Cable. UGREEN's USB 3.2 Gen 2 cable is a lower-cost alternative that also charges at up to 240W.

Apple's iPhone Duo Cases

Apple makes two cases for Duo. The $79 iPhone Duo Case is a thin two-part polycarbonate shell in Navy Blue or Sand that leaves the hinge exposed. The $129 Folio with Kickstand is made of TechWoven fabric in Navy Blue or Taupe, and its kickstand props the phone up for video and FaceTime calls. Both have magnets for MagSafe, and the Folio can charge with a MagSafe charger behind its open kickstand.

Rugged Cases

These cases put a guard over the hinge that moves with the phone as it folds. OtterBox rates the Defender Series Pro XT at four times the MIL-STD-810G 516.6 drop standard, and Spigen's Slim Armor Pro S adds a 360-degree aluminum kickstand. ZAGG's Sedona and ESR's Cyber Tough also have built-in stands, while Smartish's Gripzilla keeps rugged protection to 3mm thick.

Clear Cases

Each of these clear cases uses anti-yellowing materials. Speck's one-piece Presidio Perfect-Clear Fold has a hinge guard that closes automatically, and Spigen's Ultra Hybrid Pro and ESR's Classic Hybrid also cover the hinge. JETech's case comes with two outer-screen protectors, and ZAGG's Crystal Palace adds a built-in stand.

Cases With a Built-In Stand

A rotating stand props Duo up in portrait or landscape for video. The TORRAS Q3 Spin works folded, half-open, or fully open and comes with a tempered glass screen protector. CASEKOO's case pairs a 360-degree spin stand with a ring holder and covers the hinge.

Slim, Leather, and Fabric Cases

To keep Duo close to its original size, PITAKA's aramid fiber case is 0.04 inches thick and weighs 0.57 ounces. The TORRAS Q3 VegSkin has a leather finish and a rotating stand, Mkeke's case has a woven finish like Apple's TechWoven, and Case-Mate's Floral Gems sets rhinestones in a clear shell. Smartish's Gripmunk covers the hinge, Spigen's Nano Pop has a textured two-tone shell, and elago's silicone case is a budget option.

Wallet Cases

Smartish's Wallet Slayer holds one to four cards or cash in a side-loading slot and wraps the hinge. SIXBOX's case hides a card holder and a stand, and includes a front screen protector.

Screen Protectors

Protect the outer screen. Apple hasn't published guidance on screen protectors for either Duo display, and the inner screen isn't a sheet of glass: it's a polymer cover layer with a nano-texture finish that reduces glare and makes the crease less visible. Apple has said that layer can be replaced if it wears.

Every protector below is for the 5.4-inch outer screen. ZAGG's Glass Elite comes with an alignment tray and lifetime replacement, and its Privacy version blocks side views. Smartish's Tuff Sheet and JETech's 3-pack cost less, and JETech's anti-reflective glass cuts glare. TORRAS's Unbreakable and Sunview AR protectors fit only cases without a front frame, such as the TORRAS Q3 VegSkin.

Camera Lens Protectors

ESR's lens protectors cover each lens individually and leave the flash clear, and TORRAS's color-matched rings come in Night Sky and Star White.

Apple Pencil

Apple Pencil (USB-C) is the only Apple Pencil that works with iPhone Duo, and it works on both displays for notes, sketches, and markup. Apple Pencil Pro isn't compatible. Support arrives in a software update rather than at launch.

Power Banks

Folded, Duo is shorter and wider than other iPhones, so a typical MagSafe battery can hang past its edge. The Baseus PicoGo Air AM72 and BMX's Duo power bank are shaped for Duo and charge wirelessly at up to 15W. The BMX adds a rotating ring stand and a battery display, and the Baseus is 7.9mm at its thinnest. For faster top-ups, the TORRAS PearlGo charges at up to 45W and has a retractable USB-C cable, and TORRAS's 10,000mAh model is a lower-cost wired option.

Car Mounts, Grips, and Kickstands

ESR's OmniLock mounts clip to a car vent. The Qi2.2 version charges at up to 25W, and the standard version holds the phone with magnets alone. ESR's ring grip snaps on magnetically and doubles as a stand, while its Boost Kickstand attaches with adhesive.

What to Buy First

Start with a power adapter, since there isn't one in the box. Apple's 40W Dynamic Power Adapter is the sure choice for Duo's fastest charging, and UGREEN's 65W charger is the lower-cost alternative. Add a case that covers the hinge and a protector for the outer screen. If you want Duo to stand on its own for video calls, the Folio or a case with a built-in stand saves carrying a separate one. Buy Apple Pencil (USB-C) only if you'll write or draw on the phone, since support comes in a later software update.
