Verizon Announces Most Successful First Day Sales in Their History

Posted February 4, 2011 at 11:43am by iClarified
Verizon Wireless announced its most successful first day of sales in the history of the company after it sold out of iPhone 4 pre-orders in less than one day.

"This was an exciting day," said Dan Mead, president and chief executive officer for Verizon Wireless. "In just our first two hours, we had already sold more phones than any first day launch in our history. And, when you consider these initial orders were placed between the hours of 3 a.m. and 5 a.m., it is an incredible success story. It is gratifying to know that our customers responded so enthusiastically to this exclusive offer - designed to reward them for their loyalty.

"I am proud of our employees who worked tirelessly to strengthen and scale our systems, enabling unprecedented customer orders through our website. Overall, it was a very good day," he added.

‪Mead also said customers will have another opportunity at being among the nation's first to own an iPhone 4 on the Verizon Wireless network.

"Yesterday's launch set the pace for next week when we open up sales to everyone across America."

The general market launch of the iPhone 4 on the Verizon Wireless network will occur on Feb. 10. The company will open its more than 2,000 Verizon Wireless Communications Stores at 7 a.m. It will also be available at all Apple store locations, Best Buy, select Wal-Mart stores, and online at www.verizonwireless.com and www.apple.com.

No simultaneous voice and data. Too bad for Verizon and Sprint. This is not the iPhone fault, I know that, this is about CDMA network. Hope they will switch to LTE soon and this problem disappears.

I new the haters would be out - surprised there aren't more already. I guess this goes to show that the iPhone is simply a popular device. I admit it took a little getting used to when I upgraded from my 3GS a while ago but I would NEVER go back. Or change to anything else. But that's just me (and I'm very well-informed) - buy the phone YOU want.

So apparently you have not read that they have fixed the antenna issue in the Verizon version and the reviews all say there is no "grip of death" issue. Also it is reported from reviewers like the Wall Street Journal, CNET etc. that the dropped call issue seems to be much better on the Verizon network versus AT&T. ff you read sites like iClarified it amazes me how you missed this type of news. yet you are reading blogs on the iPhone.

David- The VZW iphone 4 was redesigned internally for the VZW network. The Antenna has been modified so it will no longer ground out on the phones frame. Externally its the same phone, but internally... not so much. I guess I was one of the lucky people who haven't had any issues with my iphone 4. Also you are correct about the 3GS, it is a great design and it did take some getting use to the shape of my 4 but I wouldn't trade it for anything now.

1. There is no antenna problem if a signal is strong enough. 2. + Retina display 3. + HD video 4. + Faster CPU 5. - I hate the new multi-tasking feature, it slows down the whole operating system after many apps were running, hibernate apps without keeping it in memory would be much better choice, hope they will fix it 5. + Two cameras (works with Skype now) 6. + Gyroscope (not much apps using this feature but I see the potential), for example you could use tilt gesture to scroll the web page or contacts or moving through photos or something else..
