Gevey Unlock Confirmed Working for iPhone 4 in the U.S

Posted March 20, 2011 at 12:47pm by iClarified
The Gevey SIM Interposer is reportedly confirmed working to unlock the iPhone 4 in the U.S., according to a RedmondPie report.

Gevey recently released a SIM Interposer which can unlock the iPhone up to iOS 4.3 by force activating the baseband using the emergency dialer.

The SIM Interposer works by adding a EEPROM chip to your SIM card just like a TurboSIM. You then call 112, a number that can be called from any GSM phone, free of charge, with or without a SIM card on any compliant network. Once the call connects you hang up then toggle Airport mode on and off. When the network connection resumes you will be unlocked.

This method of unlocking is not recommended due to the legality of dialing 112 in certain countries. You can learn more about how the unlock works here.

Working like a charm for me without any issue on my iPhone 4 in NY and also when I travel over to Canada. Unlocked and using Rogers sim in Canada when I am there, and t-mobile when I'm home. And I only paid $20.00 at http://www.modchipstore.com/iphone-4-unlock-16490.html

I would like to know if it is gonna be a problem, if we dial 112 to activate the phone since in USA, 112 is a emergency #...(911)??

you don't have to wait till they answer, You only call and hang up after 0.5 seconds, It might not make a problem.

No difference to call 112 or 911, as both and often more numbers are routed to your local PSAP just as if you dialled 911. Since the procedure requires you hang-up once you have made connection it is in my eyes plain illegal. What kind of "mistake" have you done... every second day? Can't say you dialled it by mistake!
