AT&T is on track to finish the rollout of its LTE network by the end of 2013, according to John Stankey, AT&T's head of business solutions.
Reuters reports that at a conference today Stankey revealed that AT&T extended its new service to 74 million people by the end of 2011, surpassing its target of 70 million. With the rollout going faster than expected the company should finish the network upgrade by the end of 2013.
Addressing the company's failed attempt to acquire T-Mobile, Stankey said, "It's unfortunate we didn't get it done. Now we have to go back to run a different set of plays."
Apple is expected to finally release a phone that supports LTE later this year thanks to improved chips that will be suitable for the iPhone.
