Benchmarks for Purported 13-Inch Retina Display MacBook Pro Appear Online?

Benchmarks for the purported 13-inch Retina Display MacBook Pro have purportedly appeared online, notes AppleInsider.

Test results for an unreleased "MacBookPro10,2" model first appeared in Geekbench logs in late June. The authenticity of the listing, which was brought to AppleInsider's attention on Tuesday, cannot be verified.

It shows that a MacBook Pro running OS X 10.8 Build 12A2056 uploaded Geekbench data on June 29. The machine was running an Intel Core i7-3520M Ivy Bridge processor clocked at 2.9 gigahertz.

The system scores 7806 which is below the 10999 achieved by the new 15-inch Retina Display MacBook Pro but higher than scores of around 5000 achieved by the 2011 13-inch MacBook Pros.

Earlier today a report suggested that Apple will release the 13-inch MacBook Pro before October.

MacBook Pro with a Retina display is ridiculously expensive at $2100. I know it didn't cost them that much to make, especially being made in China. Some people go to the Apple Store and buy accessories like TPU cases for $59 and warranties too…

that macbook pro with retina is expensive! while the parts are no where near that price! /s dude, you're only seeing a small part of the picture. the new macbook pro and the rest of their product line is a hell of an equation. One there's the parts - apple doesn't buy standard parts that are readily available. they engineer their own parts, customize it, based on the 3rd party technology. that gives way to a smaller parts. Then there's the engineers. the unibody design, the internals, the design, cooling system.. the list could go on.. those engineering feat doesn't just showup overnight, there are hundreds of people that worked on that part alone, divided in different departments. Then there's the R&D, employees salary, electric bill, hardware, software developers/engineers, government tax and so many factors. Apple is not the same as OEMs like DELL, HP, ACER and etc., these OEMs makes laptops and computer that are made out of readily available parts available from 3rd party manufacturers. The most evident difference is the quality, the form factor, and the confidence of which when an apple product fails, you can swap it with a brand new unit, same day, no questions asked in an apple store. You won't get that difference in any other company. One last thing.. this laptop is targeted for the professional masses. Those with wider perspective and understand things way far better. :)

You couldn't have said it any better. Some people just don't understand. There's alot of r&d and time put into all the apple products. Ya they're a little pricey but they last alot longer. Unlike alot of the plastic junk that's put out their that some of these other "PC" companies throw together every month.
