Everything is a Remix Case Study: The iPhone [Video]

Posted December 13, 2013 at 3:11am by iClarified
Kirby Ferguson, the New York-based filmmaker behind the Everything is a Remix video series, has released a standalone case study on the iPhone.

Remixing is a folk art but the techniques are the same ones used at any level of creation: copy, transform, and combine. You could even say that everything is a remix.

Ferguson's original four part series can be found at http://www.everythingisaremix.info. He plans to start a new series called 'This is Not a Conspiracy Theory' shortly.

Take a look at the iPhone case study video below...

You didn't really understood the video, did you? Better luck next time. And keep your mind open. That's the important part.

Actually, most of these ideas came from app developers not android or microsoft. For example, the configuration panel that slides up was first done as a jailbreak app. Many other customizations that the Cydia community did for the iPhone was picked up by android. The slide to delete, etc was also first done in specific apps vs an OS-wide paradigm. Doesn't negate the point of the video but certainly credit should go to those who really developed the new ideas, not android or microsoft.

Wow. A video showing how app designs compared to what it actually looked like in the real world! Well done writer!
