AT&T's 4G LTE network is available in 488 markets now, with 12 new markets launching today. The carrier has been fairly quiet these past few months with market launches compared to earlier this year. However, AT&T just signed a roaming agreement with Canadian carrier Rogers to offer LTE speeds for customers roaming in Canada.
The following twelve markets officially launched today:
● Twin Falls, ID ● Burley, ID ● Kauai, HI ● Appleton, WI ● Oshkosh, WI ● Fond du Lac, WI ● Poplar Bluff, MO ● Durango, CO ● Elmira, NY ● Sikeston, MO ● Terre Haute, IN ● Pottsville, PA
The following two markets will be LTE ready by years end, according to AT&T.
● Jackson, MI ● Lewiston, ID
By the end of 2013, AT&T expects its LTE network to cover 270 million people. Its LTE rollout will be mostly complete by the end of next year. It also expects to have "most" of its 2G EDGE network converted to 3G by the end of 2013 as well.
Customers can enjoy faster download/upload speeds, lower latency, and more efficient use of spectrum with LTE. Remember, only newer iPhones have LTE enabled (iPhone 4/4S have HSPA and are not compatible), so you'll need to upgrade to enjoy these faster speeds.
