Check out this video that shows why Apple wants the iPhone to have a sapphire glass covered display.

Aero-Gear makes a Sapphire Crystal Screen Protector. In the video below you can see how it holds up to a brick of concrete.

Recently it's been reported that an iPhone with a sapphire front display glass is in trial production. Apple manufacturing partner Foxconn is rumored to have successfully assembled at least 100 units with sapphire as glass display.

Exactly. Can't test something without a comparison. How does gorilla glass hold up in the same test. The concrete weight isn't completely on the screen. Actually I'd rather have a shatter resistant glass. Everybody and there moms have a screen cover for scratches. My gorilla glass never touches anything but the sticky end of a screen cover. They even come in glass now.

This looks fake. Why is his hand in front? If they can make sapphire glass for this phone, why can't they spend money on a 1080p video with a good professional studio?

You do realize that on the MOHs scale of hardness sapphire is rated a 9 and diamond is a 10. Making sapphire crystal (corundum grown in a lab) one of the hardest substances available for such a purpose. It's not impervious but there are very few things hard enough to scratch it.
