CURVED has created a new concept that imagines the new Apple TV as an HDMI dongle.
The fourth generation of Apple TV could be introduced this spring; we layed out our concept of an Apple TV touch a couple of weeks ago. But it doesn’t actually take a full blown set-top box to invade the living room as Google’s widely successful dongle Chromecast which debuted last week in Europe has proved.
Welcome to Apple TV Air! • Apple TV Air is the cheapest possible way to watch Apple TV • It consists of two parts: the HDMI 'dongle' (the actual Apple TV) and a small remote control, both sold together in one box for aprox. 49 $/EUR. • The dongle is powered through HDMI, while the remote has a small changeable battery like the current Apple TV remote • Connection over Bluetooth (IR not possible due to fact that the box will always be out of sight) • Made from plastic materials to keep costs down but maintaining Apple’s trademark quality (think back to the first generation Apple iPod shuffle)

I tried roku one time, their is no potential to it whatsoever except more channels which I don't watch. Apple TV is the best streaming device, does roku have jb like anything to be ATV. Sure the remote has less buttons but it's more functional.
And without a jailbreak and xbmc Apple TV is no fun unless paying for movies, watching Netflix, and Hulu paid services are fun too you. That's my definition of not fun . And Apple TV 3 has yet to have a jailbreak . What garbage and a waste of my money I only use it to stream airplay sometimes and I could do that with my computer and xbmc that I have hooked up to my tv just the same minus mirroring capabilities.
This isn't happening. What if the TV is really close to the wall and you have to plug that adapter in facing the wall. That way you have to move your TV away from the wall for a couple of inches which isn't always possible if the TV set is fixed to the wall using the wall mount.
Ever since iPad Air, now every device concept is considered "air" minus MacBook but seriously, air here and there! It's better without them since iPhone is lighter than ipad but has a good name as it is.
