Check out this beautiful 'Apple TV touch' concept created by CURVED/labs that features a touchscreen remote.

The main attraction is the revamped remote control, completely redesigned as a touch device that might be wirelessly rechargeable via Apple TV. iPhone 5 / 5s / 5c are still functioning as remote controls as well. Additionally, a separate App Store for Apple TV should be available. With 9,8 x 9,8 cm, it comes in the same size as the 2-year-old 3rd generation, but will be even thinner with 1,67 cm. We expect models to be available in grey, gold and silver.

Other imagined features include 4K support, HDMI 2.0, A7 processor, 802.11ac, Bluetooth, DVD Audio, SADC, Dolby Digital Plus, True HD and dts-HD, 32 channel audio, and1536 kHz sample rate.

Apple is rumored to be preparing an update to the Apple TV that will launch soon. Would you be happy if it looked like this?

Exactly, what we need is more buttons.

No more hard buttons... only soft buttons. A simple remote control application will do the job

I meant like when you exit or switch to, that kind of things compared to roku.

I like the idea very much. Especially with a digital keyboard on it. This way I can use my iPad for other things like when my nephew hogs it up when he comes over. Great idea. I like it much also because it's more compact.

Why do something that is so similar to iDevices? All this thought for a concept is a waste, all the remote needs is more buttons like the roku.

Non of these comments are business minded. Just the narrow minded Blah, Blah, Blah that we read everyday. Some say the remote is useless if you have an iPhone or iPad, what if you don't have an iPhone/iPad? According to you guys, you have to live in the past with a manual remote? The key to the tech world is to innovate and move forward, not hang out on the same playing field forever. Apple is a company that needs to make money (like all the rest) This looks awesome, and it will come to pass

I ordered a roku stick instead of a chromecast just recently to have a play, I did so because I want a stand alone remote. I currently use the Apple TV and remote even though I can control it with my iPhone. Why? Because I'm always doing something on my phone and it's a pain to switch between apps just to change the channel or adjust the volume.

The best part is airplay for me.

The remote idea is stupid, and useless when you have an iPhone or iPad.

"The remote idea is stupid, and useless when you have an iPhone or iPad." What if you don't have one of those or don't want one of those? Why limit your potential audience to only people with iOS devices?

This is just iDevices mixed with the remote. Plus this is a thing iDevices do.

What would make it better is cursor you could use to aim at anything without tapping arrow keys. This would save time using it.

Get rid of the box and give me a HDMI stick that works with that remote kick arse touch remote, that's where it's at and it would make the whole set up as minimal as possible.

A remote made similarity to the iPhone and manufactured with sapphire glass would make the remote itself quite expensive, but if made universal for Apple TV and Mac osx (fully) it may even be worth it. Not to mention a champagne gold Apple TV unit made of aluminum would looks sick.

This concept if made real could easily double, triple or even quadruple the overall consumer cost of the Apple TV do to material cost. But to be honest I would be all over it if this did become real at the suggested price points.

Two words to describe the designs. BAD ASS! Definitely looks like something apple would make. I agree in a way that the costs to make a product like this might drive the price up but with the resources apple has they may not be much higher. Liquid metal might be an option for the body instead of machined aluminum. Guess we'll have to wait and see. In my opinion I think they should make an Apple TV set top box that would integrate with current cable/satellite services and be used with the current tv you're already using. It would definitely be a lot better than the crap boxes they provide. Secondly they should make a full fledged TV, 4K of course, that has the Apple TV integrated into it. If designed and done right I think they'd sell like hot cakes. Here's hoping I guess.

Yea good thing it's a concept. Who the fuk will wanna get a remote when everyone knows what happens to remotes. Unless you have a carpet then yea it's cool, but one drop and it's done. LAME!!

That's what the wrist strap connected to the remote seen in the picture is for. And if it's made of sapphire glass then that will help with drops also. And the remote would more than likely come with the Apple TV not be sold separately.
