I switched to an iPhone and MacBook in 08 and 11 respectively. At first I was drawn to Apple for their offering of innovations. Then I thought I was seeing the other techs catching up. Interestingly though I realised that it was not about advancement or early adoption and innovation so much as it was important to have ones which always worked in the way you expect them to. Otherwise innovations become increasingly redundant. Apple mucked that up royally with Maps however. A major blemish on an otherwise fairly-speaking "flawless record". I always got Jobs' analogy that computer products should be like appliances. Turn them on and they work as expected. I got fed up with open source styled computing with all the tinkering and rawness it came with. Despite the fun of building a legacy system, over clocking plug n play etc. The thing was it was ugly and unrefined. Sure it was cheaper and more customizable. But as I got older I matured to the fact that I didn't have time for tinkering. I just wanted to get on with my life. Apple solves that brief the best, for me, if all people were created equal and without individual difference if say one way of doing things would be all we needed. Apple suits certain kinds of people. You either get it or you don't.

That's exactly why you can change what you don't want or ignore it, but anyway we have jailbreak but as for osx maybe apple can keep the old style or add the dock and icons to the list of things you can customize with like the current one, mavericks.

I don't like that people have to bash others for what they like or what their opinion is. Let's be more civilized. I totally agree with Troll Hater. U have to look at the big picture for everything. In Apple's case, they can careless about market share but care only about profit margins. That is why their products are more expensive. Plus, it is not about whether a feature or product is the first to launch, but QUALITY. Apple doesn't normally want to rush things and come out with bad quality in their product. Plus, most most of the stuff that they copy aren't patented or they would be sued for everything.

All this features have been on Windows Phone and Android OS for about two years now. Sorry Apple but your market share will go down faster than expected.

Have you tried it on Windows Phone? Of course not, these people are just in love with anything that has an Apple logo on it. Please don't talk if you have not tried it, I was an Apple user before, so I can tell you the differences. YOUR mental disability is even worst and can only focus in one single product at the time, its like those Apple product that can't really multitask, if Apple buy the Tylenol company and the put an Apple logo on it, I believe you are going to say that Tylenol is the only pill for headaches. Keep eating Apple sauce and go to sleep little boy.

Did you read my comment before making your points into gimmicks? Of course not, you're like any other delusional just to bitch by something I didn't even defend about, just because I said "some" doesn't mean I disagree or agree, but still Apple is still doing more compared to others even if they stole a few things or not, but as for everything else, your mental disability that's worse than any other being deceived what you were thinking when you take shit too seriously and this sums it up, so don't gimmick if you can't think first, but what in gods mind does a device company have to do with pills, plus if Apple were to do that, what sense would it make to say Tylenol would be just for pills, it would mean apple pills because they bought it unless the company kept it like it was such as apple and beats and beats continues to keep their process going but with a little improvement, so shove shattered glass out of your brain for better strategies and cure with iOS 8 puny baby.

If it is true that kitkat take up rate is only at 9%, then I think android will implode soon. It appears that most of the take up is only due to sale of new phones that have it pre-installed! That means manufacturers are treating their own hardware as throw-aways. They don't care if you don't upgrade. They can't be bothered to push out android updates quickly and smoothly. They just want you to buy the next hardware upgrade. That's why having and OS and hardware created and supported by separate companies with different agendas won't give you the best of both worlds.

You do realize that Google Services handles most of the updates for Android anyways, so which version of the OS doesn't really matter because everything is done through Google Services.
Great!
Great! - June 4, 2014 at 12:06am
So only 9% of android phone users want to upgrade to kit kat? Or are you saying Google Services isn't working properly? Or maybe you're wrong? Or maybe 9% of devices is all kit kat can run on?

The trolls here are very small and narrow minded. Apple has to look at the big picture when creating features. It has to work simply and securely…making it happen wisely doesn't just happen. Look at the Android mess and you can see how haphazard release of features for features sake causes a whole lot of security holes and disconnect. Doing it well and doing it right takes time. Jailbreak may give you some great features, but it also has to break security in order to achieve it. Apple users can take certain things like security for granted, but at the backend, programming it to work that way is hard.

Troll Hater - June 3, 2014 at 8:29am
So true man. So true! It's funny when you prove the trolls wrong in here they run away and disappear like cowards. I honestly think a lot of them that come here are just plain lonely losers that need attention, like pissing people off or they're paid by competitors to troll and bad mouth Apple sites. Something Samsung has been known to do and has actually been prosecuted and fined for doing so. My hats off too you again man. Glad someone else understands and sees it the same way I do.

I still vote on playing catch up. Slowly losing the feeling that I need to jb my phone. In other words I have had almost all of this stuff already. Someone else already figured it out 2 yrs ago and Apple is just now adding it in. Hoping the new iPhone announcement has something exciting because this one was a letdown.

Oh wow so basically what you are saying is that Apple is copying developers from the jailbreak community and not giving them credit. Isn't that just a kick in the pants.

Nitro Junkie - June 3, 2014 at 5:43am
Same thing goes for google and all pirated spyware/malware apps and games in the play store wox. At least apple gives developers a chance to actually do something with their apps in the App Store.

Yes I want apple to work closer with what users prefer. If these mods had been popular in the jb community for quite some time why wait so long? Pretty much saying either come up with your own stuff fast or copy the jb community faster. It just seems silly half the time when I am like sweet new features and then damn.... If apple does a good job at the change then I don't have to install x mod. For people that don't mod I'm sure there lists are awesome though.

Did you watch the keynote? The developer part? The various new things they've added for developers in the SDK will change iOS astronomically. I think it was the highlight of the keynote. It's only the beginning in my opinion. Look at the overall big picture and what the future holds. Not just the little things. Like most people do. They're finally opening up the OS and letting developers add features/access to various apps and hardware that nobody ever thought apple would allow. They're actually listening to what developers and customers are asking for. It's not just about the new iOS 8 apps they announced or showed off yesterday. They are amazing in there own right, but there's so much more they didn't talk about or show on stage. Think about the possibilities now with the new developer features for coding, the new metal coding advancements for gaming, cross app integration and adding third party features to work with the hardware and iOS. These new features plus the integration with the M7 or future M8 processor, and the new Advanced 64 bit A8 they'll release soon. Among other things they'll integrate into the iPhone 6 hardware. It's only going to get better. The possibilities are endless. The way I look at it, android has some catching up to do when it comes to real development and working with developers like apple does. Not just throwing features in for features sake and to be first. Google rushes a lot of the features they add to android, among other things they've developed, announced and then eventually canceled or products that flopped. Remember the amazing Chrome pixel? All just to say they did it first. I agree some iOS features could have come sooner but why rush stuff, just to be first like the others do. Ya apples announced features first and some after others, but the difference is they work and people actually use them daily. How many features released by google or the others really take off, become big and are actually used by people on a daily basis like apples apps and hardware features are? Samsung's rushed fingerprint scanner for example. They rushed it and put it in the S5 just to say they had that feature too. Look how that's worked for them! They say their products are so much better and superior but if they are why did they just fire the guy that Was the head of developing and designing them? Again, How many people actually know about certain features these companies release, or will ever actually be able to use them because of the horrible fragmentation and lack of device updates by carriers and manufactures. Most of the apps on google play can't be used because the majority of devices people own don't support them. That's one reason I personally switched to the iPhone and other apple products. I was sick of the false promises google and the others have made. That's why I love what apple does. They actually take their time with useable features and their products, along with free supported updates. It's what makes them different. They actually care about the products they create and their customers. I never in my wildest dreams thought I'd switch, but I did and I'm never looking back. In the end It's not all about just what features apple adds. The developers are a big part of it too.

On the dev side it is sweet.... But on the Apple side it's still the same stuff to me. They made the platform and the devs might give it some more life. So second year in a row let down for me and we will see where the devs take this. Maybe this time next year my opinion will have changed. Almost everything apple introduced I have had working cross platform for quite some time. It was not spoon fed to me and many might not even be able to figure out how to get it working... So for them this is nice. For me there is always next year if someone else doesn't beat them to my next want first.

Really about all I would add is ways to start taking back android users. I don't need my phone to do anything else for me. Until their hardware is seriously upgraded on the health front I have other devices that work flawless already. What I would really love is if more enterprise situations would fully support apple products. Have a windows 7 computer just so I can work from home and get tech support. Total turn off and let's it sit in my mind that for me this can't be the end all be all brand despite how well it usually works. So add that to the list of iOS... Promoting enterprise support... I would he excited about this.

You apple hating trolls that come here are all the same. You come and spew your hatred for apple but don't use your little brain in the process. Did you even watch the keynote? You're all the same and don't look at the whole big picture. Not just this app and that feature they've added. Apple waits to to get the features right! Unlike the non updated android. That's one reason I switched to the iPhone was because I was sick of the empty promises of future compatible updates on my android phones. How about the power of the os itself and all the new developer stuff they announced too. The new additions that developers have at there disposal blow android out of the water when it comes to development of apps and games, etc. What's the percentage of phones running androids current kit kat OS? Exactly!
Woz
Woz - June 3, 2014 at 5:39am
And whats the marketshare that Apple has over Android? Oh that is right. Android phones outsell Apple phones all over the world. The android operating system is fantastic. Its very stable and fast. I have the HTC ONE and it beats the pants off of any iPhone. You want to know why? Because the screen is actually big enough to see on it. Oh and because I have an HD screen. Do you? Exactly.
Troll Hater
Troll Hater - June 3, 2014 at 6:05am
Like I said. You're delusional. Maker share? Really? 3/4 ths of the android phones on the market are low priced junk running a 3-4 year old OS. Kit Kats on what percentage of phones again? Googles promised for how many years to how many people that their phones would be upgraded eventually but then they screw customers over and go back on there word. Ya android has bigger market share with mostly junk from crap companies. It's funny though that apple makes double with profits than all android makers combined and their phones are the same prices. And they only sell 3 models. Oh and that market share you're crying about is for phones shipped. Not all have been sold. Apples numbers are from devices that have actually sold and aren't sitting on the selves collecting dust. And here we are again with the I have a bigger screen that you kiddy games. Mines HD. Blah blah blah. It's a 5 inch screen idiot. It's not 50 inches. You really think that it matters if your screen is true HD resolution at that size? At that small of a size whether it be 4-6 inches at 720P or 1080 is really not that noticeable unless you have superhuman eyes or you hold it an inch from you're face. Before you come here crying like a little teenage pimple faced loser, use your brain and get the real facts. Go back down to your hole in your mommies basement while your at it and get a life.
Woz
Woz - June 3, 2014 at 9:30am
So you haven't actually seen an HD screen on a phone. It does make a huge difference. Try it some time. Its sad that those pieces of junk you call them are still selling more than your precious piece of junk iPhone.
Troll Hater
Troll Hater - June 3, 2014 at 9:55am
You're wrong Woz. Like I said before ¾ of the android phones sold are outdated junk hardware and software. There's proof to back that up. Look it up. And the numbers Samsung and others releases are shipped numbers not sold? They actually come nowhere close to the numbers you think. Yes they do sell more but, apples making twice as much as all of them combined.
Troll Hater
Troll Hater - June 3, 2014 at 10:34am
And yes I've seen what you call an "HD" screen. I've owned the S4, htc one, a G2 and recently 2 S5's and unfortunately many android phones before them. The term "HD" on phones is a gimmick. Just like 3D was. That's all they do is jack up the brightness and contrast to make you think it's better. Like samsungs pentile LCD displays. The human eye cannot distinguish anything over a certain number of pixels per inch and 1080 on phone screens means nothing because with screens under a certain size while being held at certain distance your brain cannot distinguish the difference because the pixels are too small. Do some research. Or are you too stupid to do so?
Nat
Nat - June 2, 2014 at 10:25pm
Some of y'all don't have a clue of new, the mail part is really useful with text and getting pictures without exiting a message, but gestures can come in handy, metal for 3d graphics performance beefs up the chips' performance, continuity for keeping things going across ANY device for on the go, all the health parts that will soon run on the phone that normally run on seperate parts, extensions, family cloud, photo filters that balance part of the picture for perfect looks. OMFG all these blew me off the universe.

Give me a break about Samsung already has that BS. It's not like apple just developed the health features overnight because Samsung announced they were doing it. I'd think it's the other way around. All the rumors of apple doing something involving Heath is what made Samsung rush out the crap they released. And Samsung scheduling a Heath conference days before apples keynote just shows how desperate they are so they could say we released it first (5 days). You're all delusional loser trolls that have nothing else better to do than come here with you're garbage. Get a life douchebags.

Ya that health app and health bands are really working out well for them huh? Same with that revolutionary heartbeat sensor in the S5. Which I've been doing for awhile now with the iPhones camera and flash. A majority of the small amount of the rushed devices they've sold have been returned and they've even personally admitted they rushed them and are flops. Can't market that great health feature if you can't sell the products you've made to work with the app. And yes they did just announce some sort of health feature. You're such a big Samsung fan and you didn't know that they scheduled a last minute health based presentation just because they knew apple was releasing something soon and they wanted to say they announced there's first. It was on May 28th. Google it. Ya Samsung "ships" not "sells" a crazy amount of phones, which are mostly outdated junk dumb phones, but why is it that their sales and profits are getting lower every quarter? The Samsung execs have even went into damage control to try and fix it. They make such great products that they fired the guy that created and designed most of them. Why is that? Hmm? Because their numbers lie. Like I've said before. Samsung only releases numbers they've shipped not actually sold. Unlike apple which does every quarter in their tax filings. It's funny that apple only makes 3 phones compared to the hundreds of androids out their but still makes more than all of those companies combined. Market share means nothing when you can't actually sell what you've shipped. Take your troll delusions back to the android fan sites. I still don't understand why losers like you come here. You despise and bad mouth everything apple does but you still come here. Don't you have anything else better to do? Is your life that worthless? Go get laid or something.

If the tech is so old whys 99% of the enterprise market using apples hardware and business software and not anyone else's. You are by far the most delusional troll I've ever had a conversation with.
